  1. Hi Joel,

Welcome to the Zero 88 Forum.

I'm currently in the same boat and I've been googling a bit but can't find multicell support in any of the things I've looked at yet. Was this ever implemented?

Multi-cell fixture support on FLX S, has been pushed back due to other requested features taking priority. Therefore currently to use the auto effects across the lamps of a Sunstrip, the lamps can be patched as individual dimmer channels.

Alternatively, you can patch the whole Sunstrip as a dedicated fixture from the library, and program your own chases to adjust the brightness of the individual lamps. When the Sunstrip is patched as a single fixture, auto effects will be applied to all lamps of the Sunstrip at once.

If you have any questions let me know.

  2. Hi Mac,

To change the universe of several fixtures at once, go to the Fixture Schedule, select all the fixtures you wish to move to the new universe, and tap the “Address” button at the top. Then tap “Universe” top left, and type the new universe number in. Then double tap ENTER, to save the new universe, without changing addresses.

The fixtures will be moved to their new universe.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

I am also looking for the list of keyboard shortcuts but the link you posted isn't working anymore and I can't seem to find them elsewhere. Please can you repost.

We have recently moved away from our old online knowledge base, hence the links are no longer working.

ZerOS 7.9.8 has greatly increased the number of keyboard shortcuts available for FLX S consoles.

For a list of keyboard shortcuts as per ZerOS 7.9.8 and later, see below...

  4. Hi Gabriel,

Yes that is correct, "Cue Only", and "Non-Tracking" mean the same thing. Cue Only is a slightly more helpful term, as it means the cue you are working on, is the only cue that will get affected.

Therefore you can tap Setup -> Settings, and tap the "Cue Only" Tracking Option under "Record & Update", to disable tracking functions.

For more information on Tracking and Cue Only, see below...

If you wish to update to the current latest version of ZerOS for Solution XL, ZerOS 7.9.9, this can be found here...

  6. Hi Gabriel,

ZerOS 7.9.8 software, introduced our new format library. This will enable us to implement "multi-cell" fixture support, for more elegant control of sunstrips, LED battens etc.

In the meantime, patching individual sunstrip lamps as individual dimmers is the best approach - this is fine on consoles without fixture number limits such as FLX, however will quickly eat into your fixture count on FLX S consoles.

If you have any questions let me know.

  7. Hi Steve,

but the minute I press the flash button to go to step 2 the chase will immediately take on the intensity level of the stacks fader instead.

This is the correct behaviour. Pressing a playback’s go button, will go to that cue at the value of the playback’s fader. This allows you to advance through cues without intensity, so you can then raise the fader when you’re in the right cue.

After triggering the playback, you will need to raise the fader manually prior to tapping the playback’s go button. Or, leave the fader up prior to triggering it.

The issue occurs when I try to step through the chase the following cue snaps the stack but to 0% unless I have the triggered stacks fader physically raised. I may be doing something silly due to lack of use this year ill double check.

What method are you using to trigger the stack - is that using the advanced cue macro trigger syntax, or simply using an Add/Release macro?

If you trigger the playback manually using its Go button, it will trigger at the fader’s level.

    59 minutes ago, Gingersteve91 said:

We did revert some of our chases to playbacks that snap through the cues as we couldn't see an obvious way to keep them fully manual and not set to the global tempo or a tap tempo, this was after the last update we installed as the "manual" button disappeared in the chase settings.

This chase functionality would have changed in ZerOS 7.9.2.

If you want to manually step through lighting states, then not turning the playback into a chase and simply using Go Snap to advance through the cues is the best method.

    Hope this helps,

Am I typing the correct command to trigger stack 161 on step 4 in the below picture?

The syntax “Gx” can be used to trigger a whole stack. The syntax “Tx/y” can be used to trigger a specific cue within a stack. More information can be found here...

    1 hour ago, Gingersteve91 said:

Also is there a way to use the stack without needing to raise its physical fader as per previous versions of the zeros software?

Could you elaborate on what you’re trying to achieve? Triggering a playback using trigger macros will trigger it at 100%, irrespective of that playback’s fader level.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

  10. Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear this, thanks for letting us know. We haven’t had any other reports of this, so I am going to guess this is an issue specific to how the app is handling data from OrbXF for the screen resolution of the Galaxy S10.

    9 hours ago, Gingersteve91 said:

The number cruncher or wheels window is not effected just appears to be palettes. I don't recall this being and issue in the past but I don't regularly use the pallete windows via the app so I may have just missed it.

Can you select palettes correctly using the Z Monitor app?

We will be updating the desk to 7.9.9 in the new year once our panto closes, I will check to see if this still happens once updated

After updating the software, let me know whether this solves the issue.

  11. Hi Neil,

Another possibility is that "Auto (with first cue)" can only be selected if "Auto (with previous cue)" or "Auto (after previous cue)" haven't been used in any other cues, and selecting "Auto (with first cue)" disables the use of the other two for any other cues in that playback.

Creating a cue with "Auto (with first cue)" would automatically place that playback into a setup which reorders the cues based on the wait time.

This would minimise disturbance to current coding.

The ability to auto trigger any cue in a stack x seconds after the very first in that stack is an interesting idea, thanks for the feedback.

The idea that I press go and things happen exact numbers of seconds or tenths of seconds after that go button is released, without having to have a midi file or be against specific real times, is something I think even the FLX is missing.

I guess the assumption here, is that if you are synchronising lighting to an audio track, you are likely to have MIDI connecting the two systems. Starting a time code clock at the same time as the audio source, then means you don’t even need to press GO on the FLX at the right time, and you don’t even have to program cues in the correct order - they will just run at the specified hour, min, second and frame when FLX receives it.

    Edward

  12. Hi Neil,

For the ultimate method of synchronising lighting cues to an audio track, Timecode triggers can be used. Unfortunately this is only available on the FLX console, not FLX S consoles. FLX consoles also have real-time triggers, so in your New Year example you could have a cue running at 11pm or midnight on the dot. See David’s link above he has helpfully posted for more information.

Something you may wish to try, is programming your cues on the console, but then load the show file into Phantom ZerOS on PC, running as an OrbXF desk type. OrbXF consoles have a “Learn” function. This allows you to tell ZerOS to start learning the times of a cue stack, and as you press the Go button in real time, the console will calculate and add in the Auto timings. You could then save the show, and then load it back into your console.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

Ah cool, I was going to say I was running 7.9.8 in case that this was the case. Glad it's not me being thick! I will utilise a UDK for this project

Keep an eye on our website and social media as we'll post when ZerOS 7.9.9 is released.

If you have any questions let me know.

  14. Hello,

Really sorry to hear you have had difficulty recording intensity effects.

We are aware of an issue in ZerOS 7.9.8 software, which results in intensity effects not recording on some fixtures.

This has been fixed by our software team, and we are aiming to release ZerOS 7.9.9 next week to fix this.

In the meantime, intensity effects can be recorded correctly onto UDKs.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Is it the location information of where a colour swatch is located is stored in a show, not the colour, so if you change the colour in a colour swatch location, all of your cues containing that colour will update ?

When you apply a palette to some fixtures, you will see you get the palette code displayed on the encoders, such as "C20" for colour palette 20. If you then record a cue, the cue records the fact those parameters are using palette 20 - they do not record the raw parameter values. This allows you to update palettes, and any cues recorded using the palette, will have updated too.

I'm going live with our Christmas Panto rehearsals on Monday, so any news on 7.9.9? or should I downgrade back to 7.9.6 to get the fixture library back to a known state.

We are hoping to release a “Release Candidate” of ZerOS 7.9.9 next week to our forum beta testers. All being well with that, we will then be able to release ZerOS 7.9.9 officially. Therefore if you need to access the Intensity wheel for these fixtures on Monday, I’d recommend rolling your software back to ZerOS 7.9.7.

ZerOS 7.9.7 can be downloaded from the link below...

By the way, the Stairville HL-x9 Quad is completely missing from the 7.9.8 update but was in the 7.9.6

Please drop us a link to the missing fixture’s manual to fixturesupport@zero88.com, and we’ll add the fixture to the list to be included in a future fixture library release.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions let us know.

Can I presume this is a triac issue or is there something else I should look for.

Have you ensured that the preheat levels, and manual control levels, are set to their defaults?

Apologies for checking the obvious, but have you ensured the bypass switch hasn’t been activated for the channels at full?

If you have any questions let us know.
