Patched some new fixtures into Solution desk (os 7.8.1.2).

Thank you for sharing the OS version. Would you also be able to share the Software Version? To confirm the current software version running on your console, please click the “Other Windows” button, found top left of the Output Window. From the drop-down choose System Info. In the window that opens will be a line of text displaying the “Software Version”.

The latest software for Solution consoles is ZerOS 7.11. As some of your fixtures feature Lime LEDs, I would recommend updating to ZerOS 7.11, as this version applies Lime to the ZerOS colour mixing tools.

I can control intensity but colour selections having no effect on Output levels - stuck at RGB @100, W@0.

    Any obvious troubleshooting?

How are you trying to adjust the fixture's colour? Do the colour encoder wheels give you control?

If it is just the automatic colour palettes that are not working, as @keredyelesob mentions, please try clicking "Automatically Create Colour Palettes", and try again.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

  2. Hi Eric,

I think @iank99 has covered everything here. To add a couple of further comments:

So I know that the Ethernet Cable have limited distance... Less than 100 meter, (DMX is Less than 400 m...)

Have you some information about Ethernet signal Booster ?

There are many different approaches to running network cabling above 100m, most of which come down to personal preference and the specific requirements of each system.

If you need a cable run of more than 200m, I would be tempted to go with Ian's suggestion, and move over to fibre for the cable run...

    8 minutes ago, iank99 said:

You will need to find some transceivers to convert the copper ethernet to fibre optic and some fibre cable to link them (plus the appropriate terminations).

If the ethernet is going to be used indoors and you have secure accessible storage - it might be feasible to create a daisy chain of ethernet switches - don't use managed hubs but "dumb" switches to reduce the possibility of lag.

As Ian suggests, if you need a cable run between 100m and 200m, you could get away with putting a small Ethernet switch mid way along the line. Depending on the system you are creating, it could be useful to add a wireless access point at this location too. I would not recommend "daisy-chaining" multiple switches to achieve this, as the more "hops" you add, the more latency there will eventually be.

    10 minutes ago, iank99 said:

It MIGHT be possible to use WiFi if you have "line of sight" - there are several companies that supply specially designed antennae to keep the signal as a "tight beam" but not cheap.

The setup Ian is talking about here is specialist equipment. Personally, I wouldn't consider Wi-Fi for this, but YMMV. If you need to get a DMX universe remotely, then sending DMX wirelessly will be less of a headache than wirelessly sending your Ethernet network a great distance.

If you have any questions, let us know.

I would like to make sure that when I change playback the moving heads do not go to home position and then move to the cue in playback.

I believe disabling "Release On Lower" should achieve this behaviour.

If you raise a playback for the first time, the fixtures will move from their default values, to the values from the raised playback. If you lower the playback, with release on lower disabled, the fixture's intensity will lower, but their colour, beam and position information will remain.

Raising a second playback, will then move the fixture's values from the first playback, to the values of the second playback.

If you would like to prepare the fixture's colour, beam and position information, prior to raising the second playback's fader, you could configure the playback's button to be a go button, rather than flash, and tap the button to manually prepare your fixtures.

    I hope this helps.

I have had a look for the exact manual but unfortunately this an amateur dramatic company so file keeping isn't brilliant and I haven't been able to find it, would you be able to drop all four dmx profiles and I just trail and error it on my side until it works.

This fixture file contains five Phantom 250 Spot modes/versions...

    Showtec Phantom 250 Spot.ift

Please try these, and let us know how you get on.

I am using showtec phantom 250 spots.

There are actually 4 different versions of the Phantom 250 Spots, each with different DMX maps.

    24 minutes ago, droiddk said:

DMX-chart confirms what Edward said, DMX value 255 = "close" (from manual)/ dimmer at zero so desk is working as it should.

As @droiddk mentions, the Phantom 250 Spot in our library is the version with the inverted intensity.

If you can provide us with a manual to your exact version of the Phantom 250 Spot, we will be able to provide you with the correct fixture file for your version.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

  6. Hi @Connor

Welcome to the Zero 88 Forum.

    13 hours ago, Connor said:

But my problem is when my faders are down I'm the zero positions all lights are on full and when I move them to full positions the fixtures go out. The intensities seem to be inverted at standard default is their a way to. Swap this back around so when my faders are in the 0 position my fixtures are also at zero and not at full.

Thank you for sharing a video. I have downloaded and removed your attached video, to save your forum storage space.

Fixtures will default to a standard intensity, meaning 100% intensity = a DMX value of 255. However some fixtures do have inverted intensities, meaning to achieve full light output, the DMX value needs to be 0.

What make, model and mode of fixture have you patched onto these faders? If you can let me know, I will check to see whether this fixture is incorrectly inverted in the library. If it is, I can share a corrected version of the fixture for you to load in.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

How can i upgrade to 2 universe when the upgrade portal on the website is down?

Our online universe upgrade portal is currently unavailable. If you would like to upgrade your console, to unlock an additional universe of DMX, please email us your console’s details file. On the console, please tap SETUP -> Upgrade -> Save Details and save the file to a USB drive. Please then attach this file to an email to support@zero88.com. Please also let us know when you require the universe upgrade, and we will be able to advise.

it would be interesting to be able to customize the windows on the external screen as in the old frogs. Example: hold down the Wiev key and color, group, playback, etc.,and then press the view key until the active window is positioned in the desired position and size. Sometimes it might be useful to display several cue lists at the same time or a full-screen color or shape window.

Thank you for the suggestion. It is very helpful to hear people’s thoughts.

”Custom Desktop Layouts” are something we are keen to bring to FLX and FLX S consoles. If you haven’t seen it already, we have a poll running on the forum, to allow users to vote for their favourite features. Feel free to vote for “Custom Desktop Layouts” to bump it up the list…

I normally leave Youtube on auto. I looked again and it was running at 480p, although with stopping and starting again it gave me 720p. I have a 100 Meg pipe so top speed is normally fine.

My average download speed is around 50Mbps, and YouTube seems to always automatically set the resolution to 1080p.

I thought that the buttons on the regular faders would only be a latching flash to full

If you would like to trigger cues on playbacks with a fade, you would need to use the cue's fade up and down times to configure this.

I see each of the four keys has the choice of being locked to one state or having ten available following the page button. Could a macro trigger a defined page 10 UDK even though the UDK is locked to page 1?

It is not possible to control UDKs in the command line. Therefore, when you record a macro of a UDK being pressed, you are recording the physical key press. Therefore the macro would be activating the UDK on whatever playback page is currently chosen.

    35 minutes ago, delicolor said:

I watched the online UDK video on Youtube to grasp what I could do with them and it struck me how difficult it is to read the drop-down menus on the old version of Phantom. It was never a problem following along with your PC as you could turn on the monitor or screen window but it is busy enough on the Youtubes with the visualiser as well.

Apologies if I have misunderstood this, however are you having difficulty viewing the UDK Settings in the video below...

I have just checked, and this is a screen grab I have done from 13:49...

    image.png

This seems pretty clear. Can you confirm you were watching the video in 1080p?

    37 minutes ago, delicolor said:

Are there any plans to refresh the old videos using the new phantom? (Or perhaps you have and I’m looking in the wrong place).

There are currently no plans to refresh these videos. They are still current, and the old Phantom front panel is not too detrimental to the videos, as keyboard shortcuts are used much of the time anyway.

I haven’t entirely got my head around macros yet but wonder how easy it would be for inputs to trigger MFK pushes

By MFKs, I am assuming you are referring to what we call the "User Definable Keys"? (These are indeed multi-functional, so your terminology is fine - it is just we use the term MFKs for Solution consoles, and UDKs for FLX).

You could record yourself 4 macros, where each macro is a button press of each UDK. Each macro could then be triggered by a remote switch. A remote switch press would then be exactly like tapping the physical UDK.

Please see the link below for more information on UDKs...

rather than cues on a cue stack tucked out of the way somewhere?

If it was me, I would probably go down the route of triggering cues from a "hidden" playback with the remote switches, rather than UDKs. But that is entirely personal preference.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I have some chauvet colorado 1quad zoom fixtures which have a centre pixel and an outer group.  I cant seem to be able to control the centre pixel independently from the rest.

Firstly, please could you confirm the software version running on your console? To find the software version currently running on the console, tap the Z/Shift button, and from the touchscreen choose "System Information". In the window that opens, will be a line of text displaying the "Software Version".

This fixture is a "multicell" fixture, as it has two different light outputs that can be controlled separately. Multicell fixture support was introduced in ZerOS 7.10 software. The latest software is ZerOS 7.11.

If you are running either of these versions, you will be able to hold the Z/Shift button, and then tap on the fixture's select button below its channel fader. In the Output window, you will see this has selected the first pixel to allow you to control it. You will then be able to use the fixture control tabs along the top of the touchscreen to control just this pixel. Hold Z/Shift and tap the fixture's button again to select the next pixel. You can then double tap the fixture's button to select the whole fixture again.

Please watch the video below for more information on multicell fixture control...

    I hope this helps.

  14. Hi @Takuya Chinen

Based on your initial description, this does sound like it could be a hardware issue.

I would recommend turning off the console, and then booting it into Test Mode. To do this, press and hold SETUP, and then power the console. After around 30 seconds the console will boot into Test Mode, with a virtual front panel shown on the internal touchscreen.

Please move each fader in turn, and check whether they are registering correctly on the touchscreen. Please make a note of any faders that do not register correctly.

Please then email us a picture of your console's serial number to support@zero88.com, and we will be able to advise the best steps.

For more information on Test Mode, see the link below...

By running our first show and discovering the console, I've one question: Can I invert the Fade Effect? For example for our LED Bars there is a Fade called blue/white. When I run it blue runs over an white background. My questions is now, can I invert this? So white runs over blue background? I've already tried with offsets but didn't get a working solution.

Effects 31 thru 35 are colour fade effects. With these effects, half the selected fixtures will be one colour, and the other half will be the other colour of the effect. With Effect 33 [Fade - blue/white] this therefore results in half the fixtures being white, half being blue, and this alternating depending on the offset value. There is no way of changing which colour is on more often.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

It's the "mash F1" on boot process to recover the console. @Davidmk kindly provided me with details on the PM. I'm hoping not to need that though...

Yep - pressing F1 during boot takes you to the ZerOS Start-Up Tool, which allows you to clear the current show from the console, or perform a software update.

Thanks Edward. As mentioned elsewhere I did use the Lee filters a lot in this show and those two do look familiar. Whether they were filters I tried and kept or tried and discarded I don’t know. I’ll aim to upload the show file.

This screen was repeatable as after this I couldn’t get the GO button to work so power cycled the desk and got it again. The GO button ‘issue’ was just that the machine did not have focus on the cue list from boot - something I’ve mentioned before on an older ZerOS.

The Master Playback's GO button should always work, even if the Cues window itself is not "active". For example, in this screenshot the Cues window is not active, but the GO button still works...

    image.png

(You can identify this window is not "active", by the fact no cells are highlighted in blue.)

    9 hours ago, kgallen said:

For me it was rectified by mouse clicking on the external monitor, but it’s something I think should also be fixed - because it catches me out as a reasonably competent desk user, but could completely throw a less experienced operator or stand-in op.

On start-up, occasionally the cursor keys may control the Output window by default, rather than the Cues window. This issue is logged as reference number ZOS-9415. I have raised the priority of this.

    1 hour ago, kgallen said:

Edward - I understand there is a desk restart process - could you give me a link to the instructions for this?

Could you elaborate on what you are trying to achieve? There is no way of "restarting" ZerOS - you will need to power cycle FLX to achieve this.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

    Edward
