Techie_v2 Posted December 4, 2022 Report Posted December 4, 2022 I know its best practice to use a terminator in your last fixture in a dmx line but if that fixture has both 3 and 5 pin sockets, should you put on in each? Thanks Quote
kgallen Posted December 4, 2022 Report Posted December 4, 2022 No, just one. Otherwise you will double-terminate - the two 120 ohm resistors will be in parallel resulting in a 60 ohm termination which is the incorrect termination for a 120 ohm transmission line. 2 Quote
Techie_v2 Posted December 7, 2022 Author Report Posted December 7, 2022 But if using a splitter, put one on the last fixture on each split correct? Quote

van den abbeele Eric Posted December 7, 2022 Report Posted December 7, 2022 Hello, I systematically use splitters (2-way, 4, 6 and 8-way) generally having around 70 LEDs (Moving & Static projectors) plus traditional lighting. This on a relatively large stage for "Moselle" department. Stage of 15m X 9m, dance floor (with in fact backstage included 26m X 10m) So it has long DMX lengths. The grill being between 6 to 7m high. So to limit the worries of lengths in DMX, I have to use some DMX Splitters (4, 6 and 8 DMX outputs) and indeed I do not put a cap on each free output of the splits with only DMX 3 as with those that have DMX 3 and DMX 5 outputs. normaly all is working good. thank ----------------------------------------------------------- Bonjour, J'utilise systématiquement des splitter (2 voies, 4, 6 et 8 voies) ayant en general en alentour de 70 Leds (projecteurs Moving & Statique) avec en plus tout ce qui est éclairage traditionnel. Edward Z88 Posted December 7, 2022 Report Posted December 7, 2022 Hi All, To confirm, there is no need to terminate "unused" outputs of a DMX splitter. You only need to terminate the DMX line if there are "receivers" on the DMX line.
