New Effects Engine on next Update for FLX/ S48 /S24

Hi, my Name is Max.

I recently began getting into the FLX S Series.

Since been using the FROG series for around 4 Years, I decided to keep on going with Zero88 since I'm familiar with your Work.
I know that the Big FLX Console has a better Effects Tab than the FLX s.
This kinda makes sense because you are paying more for the console :D

Will it be possible to create your own effects in some upcoming Updates on FLX s.

PS:(I've seen tho voting pole on the Community Forum, so I voted, but the question is will it come soon, and will it come to FLX s too or do I have to upgrade in the Future?)

Kind Regards
Max Gallos

Currently on the standard FLX console, you have the "Waveforms" engine. This allows you to apply a wave, such as a sine wave, to any parameter of a fixture. This is a complex, mathematical approach, that will not be coming to the more simple FLX S consoles.

However, an improved Effects engine will be coming to both FLX and FLX S, so thank you for voting for this on the forum thread. We currently don't have any timescales on this.

To make sure you're getting the most out of effects, please watch the video below...

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, just let us know.

Hi Max,

In addition to everything Edward's already said - can you describe the sort of effect(s) you’d like to achieve that you can’t currently do on FLX S? It would be good to take this into account in future developments.

Thanks!

Hi Edward and Joe,

Thanks for your quick reply.
I would like to see an option to mirror an effect between the number of selected fixtures by 2 or 4.
let's take the circle movement effect for example and also say I have 8 moving heads which I'd like to control.

It would be nice to have an option to mirror the circle effect, so I have a symmetric effect "groups of two" or "groups of three" or "groups of four"

maybe I'm explaining this too complicated but I want to get this result

Kind Regards

Max Gallos

Although there isn't a button to make this all happen automatically, I believe you could create this effect using the available effect tools.

To do this, you'll firstly need to record some groups, to give you your "Groups of Two" etc that you describe. For example, if you had 8 fixtures, you could record 4 groups - one for each pair of fixtures.

You will then be able to use these groups to select your fixtures, and then apply an effect across the groups. You can then use the "Forward Offset (By Group)" button at the top of the Effect window. Each group of fixtures will follow one after the other, rather than each individual fixture following one after the other.

Once the effect is running, you could then just select the Stage Left fixture group(s) for example. You can then dial the "Speed" parameter down into negative values, to reverse the direction on these fixtures, so that these fixtures mirror the others. You could then save this as a custom effect palette.

Apologies if I have misunderstood what you're trying to achieve. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Hi Edward,

Thanks for the reply.

No, you didn't misunderstood me.
I've been doing it like this for a while and yeah it definitely worked, but it would be definitely nicer to reverse the effect speed for the selected group via a single Button :)

I mean, the Button on the speed encoder has no use at the moment, right?
Maybe it would be an idea to use it for a simple shortcut button to turn speed 17 into speed -17.

Just an Idea, tell me what you think about that.

kind regards
Max

I think this is a great idea. I have logged this suggestion on our system as reference number ZOS-11028. We will review this feature further.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. If you have any questions, please let us know.
