So I will have a last performance before holidays.

So I Did every performance with 7.11 and having no problems.

I use since June the same configuration (just changing some DMX address and Erasing CUES when I was making a new show. )

But all was stable and I having no Bug !

Using 2 universes with Leds, Moving Wash & Spot, using traditional projector... And all was working good !

So I well try 7.12 in August (after hollydays) & I will continue French traduction & wishing to continue to doing French Video Helping...

So take care & good things for you dear Jon & also for Edward too,

Eric from France

It’s been lovely to speed up releases now that two+ years of big “behind the scenes” changes are complete (library, multi-cell, multi-emitter). Looking forward to the next release, targeting within the next two months!

Good thing indeed to have a more sustained update rate. Everything is despite the security for users to have enough people in your teams to check that everything is going well with the FLX and FLX'S...

I can remember chaotic updates with Apple and multiple crashes around the world... For my part, I had always taken the habit of waiting a good year before moving forward and very often that also saved me from big crashes...

Yesterday (with 7.11) I had problems, impossible to save on USB keys (Zero88 Key).
for the past two months, I have been systematically recording on 2 different keys.
And the second key worked.
I had my Mac with me, did a little cleaning on the Zero88 keys, did a little vacuum and was able to do the recording again... The red lines of code indicating that the recording on the USB key in question was impossible then disappeared...

But I had a heat stroke...

beautiful end of the day

Eric

Hi Jon,

Tried ZerOS 7.12 on an event this weekend (full size FLX), had the most peculiar issue where I had a 'dead' touchscreen zone on my external montior. I tried recalibrating several times to no joy. I ended up downgrading to ZOS 7.11 which then worked OK. Dead zone confirmed by using the 'draw' function after calibrating the screen; it was a diagonal zone extending from the bottom right corner.

Touch screen is an Iiyama T2252MTS-3.

Desk is out on another job this week, but will try some more testing when it is back on ZOS 7.12 again.

I also thought the desk was maybe a bit more 'hang-y' when changing between setup and attribute pages than previously.

Cheers,

Alex

Thank you for the information. This is not something we came across whilst testing various monitors, however, we haven't got access to that model of monitor. In most cases calibration will either work correctly, or not at all.

If you're able to look into this further when the console is back on ZerOS 7.12, that would be very helpful. Do feel free to send me a direct email with your findings.

Hi,

Do the Hue devices use up DMX channels (even though they could never be DMX controlled), or are they extra to the number of DMX channels on a desk? (2048 on a Solution in my case)

A theoretical question as I am unlikely to run out of channels!

I am assuming Hue control works on the Solution, along with all the other ethernet based protocols.

Thanks

Paul

Due to hardware limitations, Philips Hue control is not available on Solution consoles. Philips Hue control is only available on FLX, FLX S, and ZerOS Server.

Hue devices have parameters just like DMX fixtures, and so do use licenced ZerOS control channels.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Oh, that is disappointing. I was going to buy some Hues and a bridge for 'practical lights' for a play.

What about the other ethernet protocols added in 7.12?

Thanks

Paul

Yes - KiNET and Vision.Net protocols are available in ZerOS 7.12 on all hardware, including Solution.

Due to the way the Philips Hue API works on different hardware, we couldn't bring this over to x86 hardware (Solutions & Orbs)

Philips Hue API

Hi Edward,

A little googling shows me that the Hue API is in the public domain (Why Develop for Hue - Philips Hue Developer Program (meethue.com), which is good, so I guess I will try to find something that will convert, say, sACN to Hue if I ever want to run some Hue lights.  It could run on another interface box e.g. PC, R Pi, Android tablet, etc.

Thanks

Paul

Yes - there are several Art-Net to Philips Hue software interfaces designed to run on a PC on the same network. I've not come across any sACN to Philips Hue interfaces, but I'm sure someone's written one!

(But probably more capable & recent than the Kontron card in the Solution.)

Indeed! Philips Hue control is available on Phantom ZerOS (if unlocked with a dongle), just not x86 console hardware.

Hi Alex, Jon & Edward,

Prompted by this thread, I tried 7.12 on FLX with my T2252MTS. I too am getting the same 'Dead Zone'. However, it's also doing the same on 7.11.  Never noticed this before as I've never drawn over the screen that extensively when calibrating!

Also, prompted by the 'hang-y' comment, I have noticed that when scrolling through show files in the Load screen 7.12 is more 'jerky' than 7.11.  I'll send a couple of videos to you via email that show this.

Cheers,

John

Thanks very much for sharing pictures of this. As you haven't noticed this before, I assume this hasn't affected normal operation?

If you are able to connect the touchscreen to a PC running Windows 10 (or 11), do you also experience this diagonal "dead zone"?

Thanks again for emailing through your videos. As per my reply to your email, this is logged on our system as reference number ZOS-11014.

Many thanks,

Correct, no unresponsive finger taps  noted as yet.

Since it's a rather quiet time around here i thought I'd update our FLX with the latetst ZerOS version, but now all my fixtures seem to have become 'Non-library fixtures'.

I skipped ZerOS 7.11, I hope that didn't 'break' anything? Was there a library change that i wasn't aware of?

I think that happened with 7.11 due to the underlying library format change to support multi-cell fixtures.

I'm in a similar place with mine and went through an exercise of trying to find the "updated" library fixtures for the many fixtures I have. I didn't find it a particularly quick process, in part because of the manufacturer versus brand partitioning. I think the desk could be much more helpful here in finding the equivalent and supporting a better search.

I did question and document my experience on this forum, I'm not just complaining now, and it seemed in accordance with what the software does, but I don't think the situation is particularly good. Some enhancements were filed or promoted as a result of feedback, so it's worth you also having a play and noting your thoughts as Z88 are generally very receptive to user comments.

(The linked thread is in the Beta Test forum, some users might not be able to access it).

Hi @Gerran & @kgallen

To add to this, ZerOS 7.13 will include more improvements to the Change Fixtures procedure.

(This was logged as reference number ZOS-10950 on our system, and has already been implemented in an internal beta version).

Please see the link below for more information on updgrading the fixtures in your show file to the latest library fixtures...

You don't have to upgrade your fixtures if you don't want to. Your cues will continue to use these fixtures without any issues.

However, if you would like to use the latest versions of the fixtures from the ZerOS Library, they can be upgraded to the newer versions. See the link below for more information...

Hope this helps,

Hi Edward, thanks! - But there are some "limitations" with staying with the "red" fixtures though aren't there - like not being able to do fixture swap-out/morphing?

Of course any fixtures designed by the user using the Fixture Tools will always be "red" and carry these limitations.
