Ma console se fige

delfine

Recommended Posts

I haven't properly checked this out but once or twice, when I've finished programming for a show, I've left the console on for a long time - more than an hour - and when I've returned it has been non-responsive.

I haven't reported it before because it is rare, a restart has fixed it and I haven't got precise details for support to go on.

It's never happened while I'm actually operating controls even if that is infrequent.

I don't use a router but I do have a Windows tablet attached running the monitor app. This works because both the desk and the tablet have fixed i/p addresses and I use a cross over network cable. That said, it could be because I'm using the network connection or because the monitor app or the tablet times out in some way. As I said, I haven't researched it properly.

(I use the tablet instead of a screen because it's more portable and it means I have a Windows device for things like the fixture editor.)

I have certainly had my (full size) FLX freeze both in a show and after having sat idle for a while. This was on earlier ZOS versions (and all were reported here). I don’t have enough hours experience in the last couple of years and ZOS versions to know if this is still the situation.

I had concerns at the time that there was an underlying hardware issue (signal timing or signal integrity), since my FLX is a very early build, but if this phenomena is also seen on the FLX S range then maybe the pendulum swings to more of a software problem than hardware.

I should point out that I have a full size FLX as well

And I don't have router

Ditto, no networking on mine either. My FLX is only ever attached to a USB keyboard and mouse, touchscreen monitor (USB+DVI-D) and lighting network via DMX outputs. And a USB stick and desk light.

Hi All,

I think there are three different things going on here:

@delfine has experienced an issue with their FLX S front panel freezing, with ZerOS continuing to run, when their router is connected. This will not affect FLX hardware. Delfine and I will investigate further in our meeting.

@kgallen is mentioning crashes that to my knowledge have all been fixed in later versions of ZerOS.

@Davidmk sorry to hear you have experienced freezes with your FLX. As you almost always use the console when connected to a network, it is almost impossible to say that the network is the cause. If you noticed they only occurred when connected to your network, this would of course be a different story. If the issue does occur again, please take a picture of the console in its frozen state, and email this along with your current show file to support@zero88.com.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you Edward. What I'd like to do is find a way to repeat the issue under controlled conditions. I'm up to date on software but what conditions have caused it in the past (and have been fixed)? I could at least rule these out and maybe they will give me a clue.

PS I'm qualified software tester (ISTQB Foundation) but I qualified 6 years ago and I haven't been doing it for 3 years so pretty rusty :)

To confirm, have you experienced your FLX being unresponsive whilst running ZerOS 7.10?

Hi David,

Have thought about it. Trouble is I have gigs every few days so I'd be forever loading the Beta version then reloading the current one. Either that or taking risk with the beta on a live show.

Yep, fully understand that. If you do change your mind and would like access, just drop me an email.

Sorry, missed this question. At the moment, I'm not sure I have. Certainly the instance that caused me to take steps to protect myself (buying a splitter that continues sending the last state if it loses incoming DMX) was before I updated to 7.10

Bonjour,

Help !

Remove any USB sticks.

What ZerOS version?

Did you change anything recently (hardware / software) that may have triggered the problems?

Bonjour Delphine,
