  1. 1. What would you like to see in ZerOS?

    • Comprehensive Copy & Move on FLX / FLX S
    • Discrete timings on FLX (apply specific timings to specific parameters)
    • Improve effects engine
    • Intensity fanning
    • Pixel Mapping / Matrix
    • ‘Learn’ functionality (eg auto-populate auto-follow wait times)
    • Improved macros
    • "Looks" palettes (single palette with ICBSP info)
    • Channel select via palettes (if no fixtures are selected, selecting a palette selects relevant palettes)
    • Exclusive Playbacks (a playback not affected by GM, RemDim, Inhibits, other Playbacks, and not recorded into cues)
    • Ability to create RGB faders more easily
    • Rig plan layout (show fixtures where they’re physically located)
    • Stage Sizing (touch-based interface to move fixtures to specific stage locations)
    • Undo functionality
    • Ability to update multi cells simultaneously (eg, update fade time of multiple cues)
    • Custom desktop layouts on FLX / FLX S
    • Refreshed user interface (new skin)
    • Improved power control (eg, ability to switch relay power to a fixture / whole rig via a dedicated UI, without eating into fixture limitations)
    • Multi-keyboard support (eg AZERTY etc)
    • CSV import / improved export
    • ASCII Export
    • User accounts (with different levels of controls and access)
    • Multi-console (ability for multiple consoles to work simultaneously on a single show)
    • Multilingual
    • Storage of multiple show files on FLX
    • Park parameters
    • Partial file load
    • macOS version of Phantom ZerOS
    • Trigger outputs (e.g., OSC, MIDI, Vision.Net - to trigger 3rd Party devices from the console)
    • Reporting & monitoring of RDM Sensors etc
    • RDMnet & LLRP support
    • Dimming curves
    • Global Palettes (added 10/10/22)

Hi all, is there any idea about the adding of OSC-functionality?

In a word, yes. OSC input is now very high up our internal list of features to implement.

Currently, ZerOS only supports Vision.Net network triggers to trigger cues.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

ZerOS 7.11 has been released which fulfils "Colour mixing with mutli-emiter LEDs (eg, Amber, UV, Lime, Cyan etc)" - so I've removed this option from the poll. At the time, it was at 8.83% with 25 votes, making it the highest voted feature.

ZerOS 7.13 has been released which fulfils "Fixture builder within ZerOS" (6.82% with 21 votes) and "GDTF support" (0.65% with 2 votes) - so I've removed these options from the poll.

ZerOS 7.14 has been released which fulfils "OSC triggering" so I've removed this option from the poll. At the time, it was at 2.56% with 8 votes. I've reached out to those who voted for "DMX In over ethernet" (1.6% with 5 votes) to ask if their need was just "DMX In", or specifically "over ethernet" (as we didn't differentiate between these). Based on the feedback, I believe the DMX In functionality introduced in ZerOS 7.14 mostly fulfils this need and so I have removed this option from the poll too - we can always add it back if there's a specific need for DMX In over ethernet.

So does this mean that there is no prospect of an OSC output (to trigger external equipment) in the next version of ZerOS?  Specifically, that will run on a Solution.

There are currently no plans to support OSC output in the next version of ZerOS.

MIDI Out is on the poll above, but has a fairly low number of votes, so sending trigger commands from the console is currently fairly low-down the priority list.

Now we have OSC, I've reworded this poll option to be more inclusive: "Trigger outputs (e.g., OSC, MIDI, Vision.Net - to trigger 3rd Party devices from the console)". @Muller Light - get voting!

This would be great. I‘m waiting for this for years now 😏

especially Pixel mapping.

But also effect! I still don‘t understand why someone would want to change effect speed and size  if you chose your fader to be „Fader controls effect“!

Maybe an easy „fix“ would be to create a option in the desk defaults settings if you want the fader to control fx speed or size or both.

The purpose of Fader Controls, for all attributes including Effects, is that you can raise a playback fader, to transition fixtures from their current values to the recorded values. If Fader Controls Effect didn’t control both Speed and Size, the fader couldn’t be used as a subtle crossfader - you’d either see the Size or Speed snap in upon raising the fader.

Dedicated Speed and Size masters are a separate feature, that are on the todo list. This is covered under the “Improve Effects” item in the poll.

As mentioned previously, Speed Override faders can currently be used as Speed Masters.

Improve FX engine:

BPM-tempo sync for FX speed would be great, making synchronization between effect-speed and musical tempo visible. There's a direct connection between frequency of the waveform and BPM-tempo. Selectable multipliers (1/4, 1/2, 1, 2x, 4x) could then decide how the effect will react to the BPM-tempo. This kind of multiplier could also be an interesting feature for chases (when controlled by global BPM one chase could rund faster than the other).

Hi there, would it be possible to display the loaded show file (filename) to the "Dimmer screen"? (top, right)

As I work with a lot of different show files it would be good to see which show file is loaded.

thanks a lot

Thanks very much for your suggestion. This enhancement is logged as reference number ZOS-4947 on our software tracking system. I have made note of your request for this.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Far and away my biggest want is Mac Phantom zerOS. My Apple silicon Mac runs Capture at 100+ fps without the fan even turning on! Phantom is pretty stable under Parallels 19 running side-by-side on the same monitor with Capture, but there are some glitchy bits that I assume are due to the emulation.

A feature that I have sought after for many years has been Exclusive Playbacks.

For easy dynamic adjustment during tech rehearsals I control my Le Maitre MVS hazer from the FLX Playbacks. The MVS has 4 channels: pump, fan, direction & sweep. However in order not to end up programming these channels into each cue I have to remember to pull them to zero before hitting record. In the heat of very speedy dance show techs I often fail to do this, resulting in subsequent frantic updates!!!

This of course would be solved if I could exclude these Playbacks.

I didn’t shout about it on this thread up till now as Edward did mention some time ago that it was slated for inclusion in ZerOS 8.0,  however I see it hasn’t made the cut yet.

I maybe a lone voice here but I still hope Exclusive Playbacks is a feature to be added in the not too distant future.

Thanks,

John

Have you tried use one fader/playback to trigger/release que/playbacks? I use to do so, just activate the que in a playback you presaved or release it. Helps alot sins you can trigger/run many que/stacks at once that you created

Thanks for your suggestion. It’s one of many workarounds that have been suggested. It’s not really the multiple channels that is the problem here. In fact I just have to remember to pull the pump fader every time. It’s a relatively small extra step but forgetting can cause the unwanted sudden bursts of haze through the show! Would just be cleaner if I didn’t have to use workarounds. One less thing to remember!

No problem. I understand. For my part i create a ready macro with on off values for my smoke/haze, i think its easy to click on if needed so I not forget to adjust the values afterward. Same when I program lights
