  1. 1. What would you like to see in ZerOS?

    • Comprehensive Copy & Move on FLX / FLX S
    • Discrete timings on FLX (apply specific timings to specific parameters)
    • Improve effects engine
    • Intensity fanning
    • Pixel Mapping / Matrix
    • ‘Learn’ functionality (eg auto-populate auto-follow wait times)
    • Improved macros
    • "Looks" palettes (single palette with ICBSP info)
    • Channel select via palettes (if no fixtures are selected, selecting a palette selects relevant palettes)
    • Exclusive Playbacks (a playback not affected by GM, RemDim, Inhibits, other Playbacks, and not recorded into cues)
    • Ability to create RGB faders more easily
    • Rig plan layout (show fixtures where they’re physically located)
    • Stage Sizing (touch-based interface to move fixtures to specific stage locations)
    • Undo functionality
    • Ability to update multi cells simultaneously (eg, update fade time of multiple cues)
    • Custom desktop layouts on FLX / FLX S
    • Refreshed user interface (new skin)
    • Improved power control (eg, ability to switch relay power to a fixture / whole rig via a dedicated UI, without eating into fixture limitations)
    • Multi-keyboard support (eg AZERTY etc)
    • CSV import / improved export
    • ASCII Export
    • User accounts (with different levels of controls and access)
    • Multi-console (ability for multiple consoles to work simultaneously on a single show)
    • Multilingual
    • Storage of multiple show files on FLX
    • Park parameters
    • Partial file load
    • macOS version of Phantom ZerOS
    • Trigger outputs (e.g., OSC, MIDI, Vision.Net - to trigger 3rd Party devices from the console)
    • Reporting & monitoring of RDM Sensors etc
    • RDMnet & LLRP support
    • Dimming curves
    • Global Palettes (added 10/10/22)

I’ve been setting up for a Panto with a small number of fixtures rigged at home. I would like the equivalent of ‘Format Copy’ (or ‘Format Painter’) you get in Word Processors and the like. i.e.:

I have a LED fixture where after playing around I get a colour (say) I like. I want to apply this to other LED fixtures of a different type, so I can’t use a palette. The best I can do is use a piece of paper to write down the RGBxxx values then select the other LEDs and try and reproduce the same values with the encoder wheels.

Similar with position. I have a couple of mover types on a bar. I happen to work out a pan/tilt on one type then wish I’d had the others selected too. Same requirement, similar workaround.

I have tried to workaround this by using Setup to change the encoder to Absolute then after selecting all fixtures, nudging it to snap the others to the same pan/tilt but this is clumsy and slow.

That is a good idea. Just the ability to apply the simple colour and position values of an existing pallette to different fixtures would be a real time saver. It would have to come with the caveat that visible results may not exactly match the original, particularly for colour.

Yep, agreed. In my current case I have a number of different mover models from the same range from the same manufacturer and it seems colour and position are close enough when I’ve manually copied the parameter values.

Thank you for providing this thread, so I can file my wishlist right before christmas 😉. My list is going to be long. Please let me know in case I should rather split it up or shorten it for the sake of clarity.

Firstly I will comment on my favourites of your poll. Secondly you find (possibly) new ideas - maybe for consideration in a future poll.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your suggestions. Apologies for our delayed reply. In response to some of your thoughts...

I would like to use our "generic" RGBWA LEDs more easily, so the white and amber LEDs will be controlled optimally by the colour picker. I haven't yet tried to create a custom fixture in the external fixture editor to achieve this. Is this theoretically possible or isn't it worth to try?

Currently, ZerOS will apply Red, Green, Blue and White LEDs to the colour mixing tools. In the next software update, Amber will also be applied to the colour mixing tools. Amber parameters in both library fixtures and custom fixture files will be used.

"Undo AT" (i. e. undo a numeric intensity change) would be quiet useful (imho).

If you wish to undo intensity changes made using the intensity wheel or syntax, you will be able to backspace through your commands.

CSV import / Improved export

We would like to introduce the ability to export to the ASCII format.

In our theatre we have two user groups: "Show Operators" and "Programmers". I need a way how Show Operators can easily return to their usual desk look+feel, even if a Programmer left the desk in a different state or if a show operator pressed a certain key unintentionally (e. g. "Setup").

Thanks very much for your thoughts and explanation on multi-user requirements. This is certainly a potential future feature.

In Ray Conney's "Out of Order" we had a magnet keeping a sash window open, which should drop by the command of a flash button. I solved this (on an old Strand GeniusPro) by means of an inverted dimmer curve. With this trick the magnet remained on, even during blackout. This requires dimmer curves.

Thank you for the feedback. For this particular scenario, you could use the Fixture Editor to create yourself a single channel fixture, with an inverted intensity parameter.

I found this concept on an old lighting desk in the 1990s. It might be improved if the bar color represented the channel colour.

This is interesting, I'm not sure I have come across this before. Do to you know which 90s console this may have been?

"GO" button in remote App
Yes, this would really be nice and useful.

The Master Playback fader and Go button are available in the Playbacks page of the ZerOS Remote app.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

I don't know how popular this would be, but would be ausome if you added an option to swap the mouse buttons for left handed use. Working between my pc and the lighting desk often gets confusing, having two mice with different button polarity. Pc set up for left handed use and lighting desk right-handed but in my left hand. Not a huge issue but realy nice feature for us left handed users.

Hi @keredyelesob

Thanks very much for the suggestion. Logged as reference number ZOS-10901.

Hi @kgallen & @Davidmk

Thanks very much for the suggestion.

We would like to bring fixture copy to FLX. This would essentially allow you to say "copy fixture 1's information to fixture 2", even if the fixtures are different types. The console would then try and apply all parameter values of the first fixture to the next. You could potentially go down to attribute level, or even parameter level, saying "copy fixture 1's colour information to fixture 2".

Hi Edward

thank you very much for reading my "wishlist" and for your useful feedback! I appreciate your openness to the needs and thoughts of your users.

Regarding the bar graph idea you wrote:

It was an ADB S20. I am afraid you won't find a manual on the internet. For me this feature has pretty low priority(!), but in case you are interested, I have drawn a mockup to illustrate the concept. Green bars represent the intensity of the current cue, red bars represent the intensity of the next cue. And yes, the screen background was yellow 🙂, but the original one displayed 60 channels at once.

One thing I would also love to see (but of course after Pixel Mapping 😛 )  is to have the ability to have a "FX speed master" and a "FX size master". I never understood why the both are combined and why I would want to have an FX "smaler" just because I want to have it "slower" - if you get my thought... 😉

+1 for separate speed and size master. I would love to have that so I can simply raise the fader and change the effect speed without affecting effect size.

Kind Regards droiddk

Thank you for adding your request.

In case it is useful, you can use the Speed Override control, to control just the speed of active effects. See the link below for more information…

Hi @Edward Z88

I already use that but I think it would be nice to have the fader only controlling the speed and not the size. I think speed control only for the fader would be great when busking :)

Being able to add header comments/lines within the cue stack, like this ‘Act 1’ header seen on an ETC console:

(Jon - can I have some more ‘space’? Forum says I’ve used up all of my attachment space and to use Manage Attachments but when I try that from My Account it says Access Forbidden).

Many thanks for the suggestion. Speed Override does not adjust the Size of an effect, whereas Fader Controls Effect adjusts both the Speed and Size.

Thanks for the suggestion Kevin. Potentially this could lead to advanced tracking options such as "track forwards to the end of "Act 1"".

I chose my options so long ago, i don't actually remember what they were. however...

One thing i have missed after using Leapfrogs and Orb XF's is the little LCDs for the UDK's and MFF's. I understand they have their own screen to tell you what they are, but i miss looking at the faders and seeing the name and what cue your in, especially when you are running a show with the master stack as well.

The other thing i thought of is to motorise the faders, however, i do realise they may be more expensive and may require a little bit of restructuring, but my though process is that most companies have them utilised in their current desks, Avolites D9 and Grand MA2 & 3 as the most obvious examples to me.

Just thought of this as something that could be mentioned? Jus thinking about the future of LX consoles?

I now have the FLX S in daily use and I have to say that this is something that is very important to me. Speed and size on the same fader simply wont work for me. Please remove size :) I also work as sound-guy and when doing both it would be so nice to control the speed with the fader. Please.

Pleased to hear you are regularly using FLX S24. There are currently no plans to change the "Fader Controls" functionality for Effect. Currently Fader Controls Effect allows you to crossfade to the recorded effect, by fading both speed and size. Without both parameters being controlled, you would not be able to crossfade to it.

We would like to add separate Effect Rate playbacks, to control just the speed or just the size of a recorded effect. This would mean you had a playback for the effect's intensity as you do now, and then another playback for speed or size. This would behave very similar to how the Speed Override control does now for adjusting effect speed, but could be assigned to a specific effect.

Hello dear friend,

Performance are still coming and it's good !

so for this topic I have subjection? I'l being right in dance shows still fews weeks, and I know that choreograph have often some specific needing.

So I realize that they would like to have different between Up and Down time fades (as is already possible for intensities) but for "color changes", "Gobo changes", "shape changes" and on the "positions change"... It will be good evolution...

But I suppose that going in this direction with so many UP and Down times on settings will overload FLX and ZerOS.

But perhaps to have a possibility to have this option possible (when it's necessary) for having different UP and Down time will be great. I Don't know how...

Or perhaps there is some option or possibility existing ?

Take care and have a nice week !

Other thing

On theater we can find more and more Apple computer.

Fixture Creator will be good on Mac OS ! And I think that will be good for intruduce Mas OS and Zero88.

Phantom ZerOS on Apple...
Do you think that Mac OS will have capacities for running ZerOS ? This will be good

Thank

Can you detail how you'd want this to work? Intensities are a single parameter either fading "up" and "down", but colour can be multiple parameters that are just "changing". Similar for gobos, positions, etc. If you could go into some detail of what you would like the end result to be, that would be really helpful.

We discuss this every-so-often, and it's certainly not impossible... but we don't have a roadmap for this yet, and I don't foresee it coming soon (and I say this as a Mac user... so I'm invested in this idea!!!).
