Hi guys,

Firstly sorry if I am being silly, not used the gear in about 7 years.

Having Issues With My Zero 88 Light Master XL - Worked for years with out any issues but now shows SU and the OP Flashes and I get preview and flash indicators but nothing from the dimmer.

My setup is:

  • 8x Par 56 Short Noise 300 Watt Power Cans
  • Additional Par 56 Short Noise 300 Watt Power Floor Cans
  • Zero 88 Light Master XL Lighting Desk
  • Zero 88 Beta Pack 2 With 6x UK Blue 16Amp Power Sockets
  • A Soundlab 4x Channel Power IEC Sockets

I'm only getting light on the Zero 88 Beta Pack when I switch the manual channel override switches on the Dimmer itself.

The Soundlab 4x Channel Power DMX Dimmer flashes to indicate the it is getting power and DMX is saying it need to have revered polarity in my DMX Cable some where although I never remember have these issues with I was would with the gear all the time.

Is the Light Master XL revered Polarity Already

Would it be worth doing a factory reset on the settings to ut it back to basic as I have never really used the desk in anything else but manual, even the flashing can I did by hand

User Manual is here:

Maybe your desk is giving the error codes shown on Page 25? However it doesn't seem to be giving any of the "Hardware Problems" codes, so not all is lost! Maybe a Super User Reset is needed (see Page 16) to restore the desk since the internal non-volatile memory has become corrupted since the desk hasn't been used for so long ("All these problems are likely to be transitory. They may require a Super User Clear Memory and/or Reset operation and some reprogramming.")

Any other questions, please use the above Forum for Light Master XL and please don't double-post, you won't get a faster answer and you'll just annoy others trying to help you...

If you get nowhere fault finding this, it might be worth emailing Keith Rogers who will be able to help you more (chance is he even built your desk!): keith.rogers@signify.com

Hi Kgallen, No I wasn't trying to get a faster response and I didn't mean to double post. I put it under a comment and then realised it might be better to start a thread rather than move off the previous subject. I didn't realise the Light Master XL was listed under the discontinued products posts so thank you.

Also thank you for your very swift response to this and I will try all your suggestions. Thanks Again.

I'm guessing Zero 88 Beta Pack 2 questions are under the discontinued products posts section?

They are. Any many of us should be able to help you out if you have a query, so post away!

It's probably 25 years or more old, so we're glad it still works and you're still using it! 🙂

Hi Thanks Kgallen,

Yes, I'm sure it would be. Can't even remember where I got it from now.

Keith has given me some further help and suggested checking the board to see if the Internal Battery has leaked.

It had... However doesn't appear to have damaged the board so hopefully I can replace it.

So much has changed in lighting from I started about 25 or so years ago.
