delicolor Posted July 1, 2021 Report Posted July 1, 2021 I have had an annoying issue with using the 48 preset faders looped round to DMX IN in order to control playbacks. Basically sometimes a playback will get stuck and not match from the input, having to resort to scrolling to the actual playback page to match and pull down. I have tried to duplicate it with a clean basic config without success so far but have found a bug I can emulate on Phantom Zeros in Solution mode. (File attached). It is after a system clear, four MP75 fixtures created as 101-104, trigger DMX INs 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, three simple scenes using the MP75s and dimmers 1-4, saved to playbacks 1-3, intensity up and down times set to 5 seconds on the fader. All is well if I use playback faders 1-3 but if I use input panel faders 1-3, if I move the faders any faster than about 2 seconds the levels snap to full rather than respecting the 5 second up time. The up progress bar will frequently not complete if more than one DMX IN fader is moved at the same time, however the colour fade times run correctly and the fade down time is respected even if the fader is snapped down. As mentioned, this isn't the full issue causing the stuck faders but I'm sure it is part of the problem. bug example.zos Quote
delicolor Posted July 1, 2021 Author Report Posted July 1, 2021 I can confirm the same thing happens on Dockhouse 2021 (which only has two playbacks defined). Opening up in Solution emulation, mapping DMX 1 & 2 to playbacks 1 & 2 and making up/down times 5 seconds gives the same snap to full symptom. I appreciate that the FLX series does not support DMX IN so it isn't going to be very urgent to sort out for legacy desks. A suggestion for avoiding the issue would be appreciated though. Quote

If a DMX Input is raised quickly, and is mapped to control a playback, this will emulate a flash button press for that playback. Raising the DMX input slowly with give you intensity control over the playback from the DMX input value. Hope this helps, Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support

delicolor Posted July 5, 2021 Author Report Posted July 5, 2021 I get the flash emulation idea, strange that it doesn’t work the other way snapping the level down to zero moving the fader though… I still asert that the DMX IN is unusable on both Leapfrog 48 and Phantom in Solution mode due to playbacks getting stuck at 100% and refusing to fade down, I will put together a little screen grab video to demonstrate this. I have raised the priority of this issue following your findings. If you have any questions let me know. Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support
delicolor Posted July 5, 2021 Author Report Posted July 5, 2021 Cheers. for further details for case ZOS-7827 I attach a (unfortunately too short) video of a development showfile triggering and then getting stuck on one of the first five playbacks. It doesn't take too long to make all 24 MFFs get stuck. I can't reliably reproduce it on Dockhouse or Chateau but it does misbehave. Once stuck at full the flash button will flash on the MFF and remain like that until level matched. I find that if I delete a playback and re-record the state it works better for a while but will start to stick in due course. It definitely seems to be tied in to the speed & flash to full side of things. I have had to really reduce the quality and duration to get into the file size limit but include the .zos which has 1-24 triggers et to playbacks 1-24. It always goes wrong for me! Solution 7.9.9 using DMX IN lockup Clip.mp4 DMX IN bug.zos Quote

Many thanks for testing this further and showing your findings. I have added this to ZOS-7827. In the meantime, configuring the button function of the playbacks you are controlling with DMX In to Flash (rather than Go), should prevent the playbacks from getting stuck.
