After the new update I've been experimenting and reacquainting myself with the zero88 FLX S48 again and I had a question.

Lets say I have playback 1 set to intensity of some generic pars and playback 2 set to strobo for those pars.

In a perfect world I'd like to:
- be able to set my intensity using the playback 1 fader
- set a color, say red, on my external monitor
- After my pars are red I want to use playback 2 for a white strobo (usually using the button not the fader)
- when I release the button on playback 2 I want my pars to be red again

I was able to get to step 3 but after I stop the strobo my pars are white.
When I used a chase with colors I was able to get it to work however I don't want to waste playbacks to create chases for every color.

I don't know if what I want is possible but if not I'd like to know if just disabling color in the strobo would strobo red and continue to be red after I release the strobo button (this would be my backup plan)

I have also discovered a bug where on an external monitor a playback looks like it stays active even if it's not and even after deleting it it still is backlit as if active which seems to disable some of the touchscreen functionality for that playback. Only restarting the console seems to fix this and it also happens to only 1 playback. Not sure if it's the first playback created after the console is started. I haven't tested it yet but if I do I can create a separate topic if you'd like.

Thanks in advance

Colour will mix LTP between playbacks and manual values. This stands for Latest Takes Precedence, and as your White Strobe playback is the latest colour instruction for that light, it is then white until it is sent a new instruction. For example manually choosing a colour on the touchscreen would make it red again.

That is correct - if the strobe has no colour information, it will strobe the fixture in whatever colour it is currently in.

Sorry to hear this - does this playback have its fader function configured to “Manual Fade”, rather than HTP Master?

If you have any questions let me know.

I assume that means what I want to do is not possible?

No idea, I haven't really tested or looked into it yet, just saw it happen a few times but it never really hindered what I was doing so I didn't really look into it. I did take a picture once to show you what I mean.

To be clear, we're talking about playback 37. I recorded something on this playback and I noticed that even when the fader was at 0 it was still backlit as if it was active. I deleted the playback but it was still backlit and this is when I took this picture.

I don't remember if it was backlit instantly after I recorded the playback or only after I changed the value of the fader. I also don't remember if this was the first playback I recorded after starting the desk.

Sorry I can't tell you more, I will try to recreate it the next time and let you know how I did it if I can.

This looks like it is being pressed by the external monitor. If you tap it, does it “release”?

No it stays like that even after cycling through the different views, recording a new playback onto the fader, deleting a playback on that fader, ... As I said, the only way I've found to fix it thus far is restarting / power cycling the console.

I haven't been able to consistently recreate it. I will let you know if I figure it out.

After releasing your white strobe, the console won’t simply resume the previous manual values, as white has become the latest colour instruction for the light. You could do this by mixing between playbacks, rather than playbacks and manual values. For example, you could have playback 1 as intensity, playback 2 as white strobe, and then playback 3 could contain several cues of different colours. This would allow you to choose a colour using the cues in playback 3 (fader nor required), and then raise the intensity with playback fader 1. You could then strobe the fixtures in white using playback 2, and when you release playback 2, the current colour in playback 3 would resume.

Thanks for attaching the picture. It looks like the fader is in its pressed state - if you tap it does it “release”.

OK thanks for confirming. To check that it isn’t being continuously pressed, you can tap Z/Shift -> System Information -> Event Monitor. This will display information when buttons are pressed, faders are moved, or the monitors are touched.

If you have any questions let me know.
