Adding additional fixtures to FLX.

I have 6 movers programmed on my FLX but looking to get 4 more.

I have all the fixture profile attributes added to cue lists so full control of every aspect of them.

Is there a quick way to add identical fixtures. I understand I will have to adjust the positioning palettes but was hoping there is a quick way to get them to respond to the programming already set up.....??

Hi Mac,

If you would like to add fixtures of the same type, that duplicate exactly what existing fixtures are doing, your easiest method would be to simply add an additional DMX address to the existing fixtures. You therefore wouldn’t be able to control these new fixtures independently, however all existing programming will then be output to the additional DMX addresses too.

If you would like independent control, then you’ll need to patch the new additional fixtures, and update your cues to add the new fixtures in.

Hope this helps,

Edward

Hi Edward

What relevance do groups and/or pallettes have in this context?

For example, if the existing fixtures were put into a group, then the positions/colours/beams/effects were recorded, using that group, and then those palletes are used (with the group) to record the cues, what would happen if the new fixtures were added to the group?

If you update a group to add in new fixtures, they will be included in the group, but they’re not going to be automatically included into palettes or cues that were recorded using the group. For example it is quite common to grab a group of fixtures, take a couple of them you don’t need out, and then record a cue. You wouldn’t want the couple of unneeded fixtures coming back into your cues even though they are included in the group you used.

Hope this helps,

Edward

I can see the sense in that. It's a shame in this specific situation but that's life.
