van den abbeele Eric Posted June 14, 2020 Report Posted June 14, 2020 Hello, Two questions :1 / Gateaway 4 & 8 Do you know when Gateaway 4 and 8 products will be available and where ? On the other hand having never used a device which passes by Ethernet cable, I wanted to know the reliability of the connections compared to a direct output DMX. ? 2 / ZerOS on PC When using a PC with ZerOS, what are the possibilities of having DMX outputs and by what means? Is there a Dongle allowing this? thank you so much Quote 1 FLX + 1 wing "7.14" + 1 FLX "7.13" & 4 Wings / 2 Touchscreen // Jester 24/48 2 Swisson XND-4R5 ENode // Stairville : 4 Wash MZH 19X15w - 31 Retro Flat Par 18X 12w RGBW Electroconcept : 36 Wash 18 X 10w Q188 // ADJ 2 Spot Focus 4Z & 2 Spot Focus 5Z Led 200w - VARYTEC : 12 Varytec Hero Wash 300 FC LedStage : 10 LS200 - Spot 200w // 19 Wash Par 12 X 18W // 12 BOWLDER 12X40w WASH // 12 PARZOOM 19 X 15w // 7 LY 400 - BSW CMY LED 400w
Edward Z88 Posted June 14, 2020 Report Posted June 14, 2020 Hi Eric, 1 hour ago, van den abbeele Eric said: Do you know when Gateaway 4 and 8 products will be available and where ? No date on this yet unfortunately. When we are shipping them you will be able to purchase them from Zero 88 distributors. 1 hour ago, van den abbeele Eric said: On the other hand having never used a device which passes by Ethernet cable, I wanted to know the reliability of the connections compared to a direct output DMX. ? With good quality networking products, sending DMX over Ethernet and then converting back to DMX is just as reliable as a fully DMX system, how with all the added benefits Ethernet brings. For a discussion on Ethernet networking, take a look at our session below... 1 hour ago, van den abbeele Eric said: When using a PC with ZerOS, what are the possibilities of having DMX outputs and by what means? Is there a Dongle allowing this? If you connect a ZerOS Unlock Dongle to a PC, this allows you to output DMX directly from your PC. You can do this by either using a USB to DMX dongle that supports the ENTTEC standard, or by outputting sACN/Art-Net directly from your Ethernet port. Using a gateway (such as Gateway 4 and Gateway 8 when they’re released) allows you to then convert your Ethernet DMX back to DMX. Hope this helps, if you have any questions let us know. So I never use a PC Window. Just working with MacBookPro. A Mac user tell me that using MacBook with parallel desktop is a good solution for work with ZerOS on Mac. I suppose that Mac OS is still not considered. There is many people that using MacOS on world show... van den abbeele Eric Posted June 14, 2020 Author Report Posted June 14, 2020 Thank for the video. I don't understand all (my poor English) but picture and video exemple giving me a good comprehension. So for instance I m using only DMX solution, DMX out 1 & 2 on FLX, but I would like to have a back-up solution in the event of a breakdown of the DMX sockets, but also extend my possibilities by having 4 universes. Currently I work indeed with the DMX outputs FLX console. FLX DMX Out 1 to control the devices that belong to the performance hall. FLX DMX Out 2 to a merger (to have the FLX & Jester 24/48 together,) and then many Split on stage to distribute my DMX signals my own equipment. So just a question about Ethernet Cable VS DMX Cable. For the moment in most cases, I use the DMX network of rooms or I go + a DMX cable that I pull from the console to the stage. The DMX cable which is around 50 to 100m is quite resistant and for the moment has had no problems. What about Ethernet cables? Do you think the resistance is just as good? This question of resistance is there because in some rooms, there is no protected and specific passage to pass cables from the Room with the public and go on stage. Thus a DMX cable is strong enough to overcome many complicated obstacles and support for people who could walk on it ... Thus a DMX cable is strong enough to overcome many complicated obstacles and support for people who could walk on it ... The maximum recommend length for an Ethernet cable (from node to node) is 100m. For lengths longer than this you would need an Ethernet switch to “boost” the signal, or for very long runs convert to fibre. The maximum recommend cable length for DMX is 300m. As with both cases, depending on your system you may be able to achieve greater distances. Ethernet cables and connectors aren’t as rugged as DMX cabling and XLR connectors. However, you can use EtherCON connectors (the connector on the rear of FLX and on our Gateway products), along with toughened cables, to make the cable run just as rugged as a quality DMX cable. The length limitations still apply. Hope this helps, Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support

van den abbeele Eric Posted June 14, 2020 Author Report Posted June 14, 2020 Thank ! I find it on JSFrance which is saling Dongle, and also EtherN.8RDM. I saw also your Splitters. It 's good to know that you're saying this ! Now I must do some economy for buying all of this...
