The big difference is that the Prolite T2236MSC-B2 are wide screen, and support capacitive touch. Capacitive touch screen technology allows for multitouch, like on the FLX internal touchscreen, or on an iPad for example. The older Prolite T1731SR touchscreens used resistive technology, only allowing for single touch.

They're much nicer to use as you don't have to press as hard, plus as I mentioned also allow for multitouch so you can fan using the colour picker externally.

Oooo, thanks Edward!

However you might need to help me narrow it down a bit! They have a huge range of monitors don't they!

Re 15.6", is it only the two 15.6" ones or would I just be looking for one with "P-Cap" or "Projective Capacitive" since there are quite a few 15" described like that.

What about aspect ratio?

Anyone want a lightly used Iiyama resistive touchscreen?!

Thanks,

Kevin

P-Cap and Projective Capacitive are the same thing - basically means it will feel more like a smart phone touchscreen, allowing for multi-touch, rather than the feel of your resistive touchscreen.

Regarding aspect ratio, FLX doesn't mind 4:3 or 16:9, so it is up to you which you'd prefer.

Regarding resolution, FLX can support 1920 x 1080, but will auto adjust and accept the standard resolutions. Looks like the max resolution of iiyama's 15.6" is 1366 x 720, which is fair enough.

Most of these integrate a USB hub, which is always nice too.

We have to be careful with that Iiyama page because not all of those monitors support DVI-D required by FLX. The following URL includes the filter for DVI, although it's still not clear to me if this implies DVI-D is supported, since FLX does not output DVI-A. Anyway, this gets us closer to picking a compatible touch screen:

Iiyama Capacitive Touchscreens with DVI in Black

BUT even with the DVI filter applied above, the page is listing monitors without DVI inputs. I just clicked on the T1732MSC-B5X for instance, returned by this search, and DVI is not listed as an input interface. BEWARE!

Alas, when you find one with DVI, it seems the 15", 17" and 19" are the same price, if not more than the 22" Edward quotes above (in the UK at least).

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for looking into this. Worth mentioning FLX would be compatible with monitors with an HDMI input, however a DVI to HDMI cable would be required, rather than DVI to DVI.

Cheers,

Edward

Hi Eric,

Thanks for looking into this. We will leave the touchscreens that have been discontinued on the list, just so that if people have one lying around or buy second hand they are still known to work.

Cheers,

I tried to post this earlier , but due to the recent forumproblems I'll do it now:

Used and tested by me are a 22" Iiyama, a 13" Beetronics, (or a cheaper chinese version of them) and recently a Waveshare 15,6" portable multi touch screen.

I found the 22" a bit large in theatrevenues where the tech seats are in the audience,  specially combined with my Solution, which itself is quite high staying in its flightcase.

After purchasing a FLX I needed a third screen and  started looking for something not too small, but modest, and found this 15'6" Waveshare screen. Works very smooth, well-defined touch. And for a portable nice: it has the standard 100x100 Vesa-mount holes. So easy to put on a higher stand.

So two more brands you could probably add to the list: Beetronics and Waveshare. Both brands require no drivers and work with Zeros.
