SamBrook Posted January 17, 2020 Report Posted January 17, 2020 Hello, I can't find any documentation anywhere which goes over mapping a light group to a channel. Specifically we have some light bars that we needed to do pixel mapping with so we just split them into individual lights, but we want to assign the group of lights which makes up the whole bar onto one channel if thats possible? Thanks Quote
kgallen Posted January 17, 2020 Report Posted January 17, 2020 You could assign the whole thing as one fixture - but in doing so you won't have such flexible assess to each element of it to exploit effects and the colour picker. There are lots of queries on this forum on this topic, have a browse around. The recommended approach is to have one fixture for the "master" section of the unit, then one fixture for each "light group". Also please remember you spent £1500 on this desk, not £20000 on a Hog... Quote

This is the part im trying to figure out (2nd sentance). The user manual doesnt go into setting this up. Yea we went cheap intentionally as we dont hold many events, but it does everything we want so far! Just looking to optimise it so it's easier to use. Quote

It doesn't. It's not really a function of the desk (yet, as in ZerOS is not currently able to handle such fixtures as gracefully as some higher-end consoled can [apparently, I have no experience]). You need fixture definitions for each "sub-part". If you're used to writing your own fixture definitions then you can do this partitioning yourself. If not then you'll have to ask the Z88 guys to create you each piece you need. Edward might be around soon to comment on your query, in which case you can engage them according to his advice. Quote
Edward Z88 Posted January 17, 2020 Report Posted January 17, 2020 Hi Sam, Welcome to the Zero 88 Forum. 4 hours ago, SamBrook said: I can't find any documentation anywhere which goes over mapping a light group to a channel. Are you trying to control a group of fixtures (each or which being the individual parts of your whole fixture) by a single channel fader? If so this can’t be done. You can however record your multiple parts as a group. You can then select the group, press Z, and control the intensity with the intensity wheel on the first encoder. If you simply want to control their intensity from a fader, set all the parts to full, and then record this to a playback fader. Hope this helps, Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support
