no real RGB Colour Mixing

Hey folks !

I managed it to seperately control the R/G/B channels via 3 Playback Faders.

Problem: I raise the red Fader to its maximum -> get a perfect red (R255/G0/B0)

                 I raise the second fader (green)  -> the colours start mixing -> at maximum I should get a perfect yellow (R255/G255/B0)

        But !!! : the red LEDs go darker until they're out at the maximum of the green fader, although the red fader is still at its max

When the green fader is at 50% I get a kind of yellow but not with the full brightness.

When I raise all the 3 Faders to their maximum I should get the brightest white but I get red / green or blue (wether wich fader I move last to its max).

I tried every possible Fader setting (HTP, LTP, ...) and red all the instructions in the manual and in the forum with no solution.

 

Any Ideas ?

Sounds like either RED is set as some kind of Inhibit (look it up on the KnowledgeBase) or the fixture is in some other mode.

Can you link the manual for the LED fixture and identify the mode you are using in and which fixture definition you've patched on the desk.

Also as you've been playing with HTP/LTP settings and the like it might be wise to do a desk factory reset and start a fresh setup following the KB article on R/G/B faders, paying particular attention to the tracking setting and tagging (i.e. making sure you don't tweak any other setting whilst you're in the middle of programming each colour).

Hello,

Welcome to the Zero 88 Forum. 

By default, when you record a colour to a playback, you will always get this colour when the playback is raised. This is due to LTP mixing. This means the most recent playback you raise will be the colour on the lights, not a mix.

Kevin has kindly linked you to the guide to get true RGB colour mixing on faders.

Can you please take a clear FLX S24 , connect a simple RGB-LED PAR-Can to it and do simple and true colour mixing with the playback-faders ?

-> raise all the 3 RGB faders and see if you get white in full brightness

-> please try it out and give a response -> then I know that I'm doing something wrong

I tried all the guides (also the linked one with an extra Colour-Mix-Intensity Fader) and on every TRY-Out I start with a reseted FLX S24.

I tried out a simple RGB-LED Can (3channel mode) and also a simple RGBW Can (4channel mode). I also found my used fixtures in the database and set them to the right mode.

Right now the only explanation for me is that true colour mixing with 3 faders is not possible.

No, because I don't have an FLX S24 (I don't work for Zero88, I'm just a punter like you!).

But this does work, so check your work flow and follow that KB article very carefully!

I don't have an S24 either and i don't work for Z88 but I routinely do this on a full FLX and I've had this problem (but fixed it).

It looks like one or more of your colour playbacks is recording values,  probably zero,  for the one or both of the other colours. For example, you may have recorded the red playback with red at full but green and blue at zero then, when you raise red it forces green and blue down (even if their playbacks are up).

This won't happen if you follow the instructions exactly but I'd suggest you delete all three playbacks then try again but this time make sure that the colour you want is at full and is selected (blue) and the other two are not (i.e.  not blue, doesn't matter what value they are showing). You have to make sure of this msnually because, by default, any change to colour defaults to selecting all the colours - even when you only changed one.
