Me and @robhurt have just purchased some Robe Robin 600 LED Washes that we used to hire regularly, but they were being sold off so we bought them outright. We always "put up" with using the in-built colour presets (using the wheel-blob on page 5(?) of the colour screen), or occasionally updating the basic default colour pallettes (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta...) with the colour values of the 600's by setting each zone to red, then updating pallette, then setting each zone to blue, then updating pallette..... etc etc etc But, that still doesn't allow the FLX colour effects to work. And using the inbuilt colour effects sets the same value to all units, there's no offset or speed control. Can anyone help with our understanding, mis-understanding or approach to using colour effects on zoned units such as these 600's? They don't take RGB/CMY values, they take brightnesses of red LED zone 1, blue LED zone 3, etc. Peter Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For Zone control, I would recommend using the fixtures in Mode 5, and with the fixture file attached... Robin 600 LED Wash Mode 5 with Zones.ift Using the file attached, for each 600 LED Wash in Mode 5, patch a "Mode 5" fixture on the console, plus 2 "RGBW Zone" fixtures. This will give you 3 patched fixtures on the console (one of which containing master controls including Pan and Tilt), each allowing individual control of each zone. You will then be able to select all of these, and colour mix and run effects across all zones. Hope this helps, if you have any questions let me know. We're in Mode 1 at the moment; I've not read the DMX chart on which is which recently but Rob wanted mode 1 so that's what we did. I'll load that into desk sometime this week, but i've to remove the flat-pack stage first (we're a church first and foremost) before I'll have time to play with the lights; they'll stay rigged on the bar though so plenty of time. Howartp Posted October 7, 2019 Author Report Share Posted October 7, 2019 I understand what you've done, and re-reading the manual tells me that mode 1 and 5 are identical in function, just with a different DMX channel order - which facilitates a custom mode 5 fixture definition, allowing 2x RGBW after it. However I also noticed the virtual colour wheel which I wasn't consciously aware of before - though Rob uses it more than I do. Can the colour effects (of the normal fixture definition) apply to the virtual colour wheel, thus affecting the whole fixture colour (zones 1-3 together) as a normal RGBW LED light would? You could however create an effect on FLX using the wave-forms, and apply a function such as a sine wave on the virtual colour wheel parameter, which will then run through the colours. Looking at the fixture's manual, when the virtual colour wheel parameter is at full, it will run a colour effect automatically. If you didn't want zone control, and just wanted to control the fixture as a whole, I would recommend operating the fixture in a different mode that simply has one set of RGBW control.
