Hope someone can help me,

I am working on the FLX S48 and today i´ve tried writing a 26ch Patch for the Varytec Gigabar II. I used the 5ch Patch of the Library and edited it as given in the user manual of the Gigabar.

Now i have 8 colours red, 8 colours green and 8 colours blue in my fixture Patch and i am able control them with the wheels in the color section.

Now i need the fastest way get control over the fixture. What i really like to do is to programm chaser/effects etc. with the different LED sections of the Bar (like in the predesigned Programms of the fixture).

Is it possible to tag Red1, Red 3, Red5, Red 7and Blue 2, Blue 4, Blue 6, Blue 8 in a fast way and turn them on? For now i have to scroll up every value with the Wheels and that would cost a lot of time...

Hi Zidi,

Welcome to the Zero 88 Forum.

Currently on FLX S consoles, only one set of RGB controls per patched fixture can be applied to the colour mixing and effects. This is why you will find the colour picker and effects only work for the first cell of your batten.

If you wish to gain best control over each RGB cell of the fixture, the recommended method is to patch each individual set of RGB as an individual fixture on your FLX S. Looking at the Varytec GigaBar II manual, I would recommend using it in 24 channel mode, and patching 6 sequential RGB cells into the console per fixture. As channel faders are in banks of 6, you could have a batten per bank, and push them all up to turn the fixture on. You will then be able to fan colours, and run effects across the whole batten.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions let us know.

Good advice as ever from Edward, but do be aware you are going to eat through the supported fixture count on your desk with this multi-patching - although with an S48 you do have 96 to play with. More of a trade-off for those with a base S24 with a 48 limit.

But as ever, you pays your money and makes your choice.
