Neil Macmillan Posted September 26, 2019 Report Posted September 26, 2019 Just new to this console, so I apologies if I am being slow! I would like to get quick access to scroll through all the colour wheels on a moving head (or multiple identical heads). By tagging, I seem to be able to get a particular colour and use the fader to bring that colour in via a recorded playback. However, I was wondering if there is any way to make the sliding of the fader change across the range of the dmx colour channels for the associated fixtures? And if it is, is there a way to limit that range, for example, so that I can go to 100% on the fader but not reach the rotating colour effects etc. so perhaps have a dmx output of 120 rather than 255? Any ideas for how to do this would be greatly appreciated! Quote
Edward Z88 Posted September 26, 2019 Report Posted September 26, 2019 Hi Neil, Firstly, welcome to the Zero 88 Forum. 25 minutes ago, Neil Macmillan said: I would like to get quick access to scroll through all the colour wheels on a moving head Would you like this fader to control just the colour wheel, or the intensity too? To record the colour wheel along with intensity to a playback, select the fixture and turn it on, and dial the colour wheel up to the maximum DMX value you wish the fader to be able to take the wheel to. Then, tap RECORD, and tap an empty playback. Then hold SETUP and tap the playback's button to open the Playback Settings. From the General Settings, choose "Colour" under Fader Controls..., so that it is enabled, indicated with a red stripe. Click OK, and you will then find as the intensity is raised with the fader, the colour wheel will be scaled from the current value, to the recorded level. To record the colour wheel without intensity, select the fixture, and again dial the colour wheel encoder to the maximum level. Then press and hold RECORD, to open the Record Options window. From the options disable SmartTag, so that it has a blue stripe on the button. Then tap an empty playback button to store this to. Again go into the settings and enable Fader Controls Colour. You can then apply intensity to the fixture using another playback or the channel faders, and then use this playback to control the wheel. To turn SmartTag back on, press and hold RECORD to open the options, tap SmartTag to enable it (shown with a red stripe), and tap RECORD to save and close this option. Hope this helps, if you have any questions let us know. Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support

Edward Hi Edwards The thought was to have the colour wheel without intensity, so that I can quickly select a colour just from the fader, or do some effects by scrolling through them manually. I wasn't too far off in my previous attempts but the SmartTag feature caught me out. It's a great board. Just a bit of a learning curve to figure out how it works. Your advice worked perfectly to do exactly what I was after. Sorry, to ask an aside question on the thread, but unlike perhaps many installs where the board works with the same lights every time (perhaps a theatre or such like), I tend to have different lights every time I operate - sometimes filming lights, sometimes moving heads for events etc. I may be missing something very obvious, but is there a way to remove a fixture once added? So far I've just been experimenting, so it has been no big issue to reset the board just to remove all added fixtures, but my thoughts of holding the delete key and tapping the fixture in the fixture schedule didn't work, nor did any similar thought for the channel "view" section which shows all lights on the main screen. I can understand it may be problematic because removal of one light would leave gaps, so perhaps a reset is just the obvious and only way to do it. Thanks Neil Quote

To delete a fixture, tap SETUP to enter Setup, which takes you to the fixture schedule. In here, use the channel select buttons to select the fixtures you wish to get rid of. When you can only see fixtures you wish to get rid of listed, press DELETE. You can then confirm this. This action cannot be undone, and these fixtures will have been removed from any cues they were recorded in. Hope this helps, if you have any questions let me know. Neil Macmillan Posted September 27, 2019 Author Report Posted September 27, 2019 Brilliant, thank you Edward. I knew there must be a way. Looked through the manual fairly closely and couldn't see any mention of deleting fixtures, so perhaps something worth adding if I haven't just missed it! Quote
Edward Z88 Posted September 27, 2019 Report Posted September 27, 2019 Hi Neil, The updated FLX S manual is available along with the latest software download. ZerOS 7.9.6, along with the manual can be downloaded here... Deleting fixtures is discussed on page 63. Hope this helps, Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support
Neil Macmillan Posted September 27, 2019 Author Report Posted September 27, 2019 Thank you. By mistake I was reading the wrong version manual because it popped up first in google. Quote
