danglen
Originality from London but living in Munich. Had the FLX with external monitor for couple of years now. Mainly touring with The Legendary rock band in Europe and some local bands. Even done a show in the French alps, in the snow, I couldn't feel the fingers from the cold, untill experienced Polish sound guy gave me a thermostat with honey tea mixed with vodka. I used standard flight case for local shows and peli case for tours...im actually sitting on it now on the train to meet the band and doing ladies motorbike festival sonewhere in Germany. Had some basic issues where a group of lights was not activating, so used a blinder to bilnd everyone then between songs reset the group's and was fine. Ita a cool desk, but would be good to have a window Macro window next to Color pallets on external monitor, i don't like using the internal monitor so much. Mixture of fixtures, every venue from 500 to 2000 capacity has standard stuff, pars, dimmers, movers, smoke.

van den abbeele Eric
Thanks a lot for your answers. It is interesting to see where our community of users is. ----------------------------- For my part I move from one place to another. Using PAR Led, Moving Light and Traditional. 1 or 2 DMX universe for instances. In theaters and Performance place. 400 to 5000 people. Use rather with the Master Playback for effects that follow each other. Use with Capture 2018. (will update to 2019) Am with the FLX, + 2 wings and touchscreen. (would like to use iPhone or iPad for having control on stage... But I ve always problem with IP configuration....) I hate to go to 7.9.5 to see the improvements side effects. But for safety I prefer to stay on 7.9.4 until my last shows in July. Because here I start having good automatisms on the FLX and on a fast encoding ... Even if I could evoke some problems on this console, I like it a lot. But I look forward to working with her this summer during my vacation with Capture to take things further on the possibilities it offers. Thank you again for your contributions. Eric - to answer your question on "why a mouse", well because from my experience unless you are a 10 year old child, or you have points for fingers, things like the scroll bars or Effects Waveform tab are virtually impossible to use with adult/man-sized fingers. hansreinhard
Hi, here my answers: I live in Munich, Germany Use FLX since September 2019 FLX plus 1 wing plus touchscreen Mainly theater, occasionally small concerts We have 17 LED fresnel, 2 LED Profilers, 4 Moving Heads, some dimmers. FLX is used stationary in a venue for 120 pax 2 to 5 shows a week. I don't know any FLX user in bavaria, all hints came from the system house. we used a Jester before, this was rock solid over years (but way too small for our new fixtures). FLX is a little trickier, we had some issues with 7.9.5, most of them were gone with 7.9.6. For me it is always a bit shocking, when the console will not boot up completely before a show (occasionally some of the funktions are missing, e.g. cursor up/down not working or touchscreen not showing up), a quick restart usually helps. Always a bit struggling with the fade up- and down-times of cues: seems that I need to proggram the *down* time to get a nice *fade-in* - weird.... Edward Z88
Hello, Thanks for your comments. 9 hours ago, hansreinhard said: Always a bit struggling with the fade up- and down-times of cues: seems that I need to proggram the *down* time to get a nice *fade-in* - weird.... Remember, when you Go into a cue, any lights that have to fade up to get to the programmed intensity will use the cue you’re going into’s up time, and any fixtures that have to go down to get to the programmed intensity will use the cue you’re going into’s down time. Therefore if you are going into a cue from a blackout, only the fade up times are relevant, and if you are going into a blackout only the fade down time is relevant. Hope this helps, Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support

hansreinhard
Edward, this is the way I expected the fades to work. in my example (screenshot!) cue #1 has no fade in or fade out. when I go to cue #2, it fades in in 10 seconds (as expected) BUT: cue #1 fades out in 3 sec. Did I get anything wrong? Have a nice weekend! Hans
Edward Z88
Hi Hans, 38 minutes ago, hansreinhard said: Edward, this is the way I expected the fades to work. in my example (screenshot!) cue #1 has no fade in or fade out. when I go to cue #2, it fades in in 10 seconds (as expected) BUT: cue #1 fades out in 3 sec. That is correct. Don’t think of it as cues fading in/ fading out, think about what the fixtures do when you press GO. For example when you go into cue 2, any lights that have to fade down, use the down time of the cue 2. It therefore doesn’t matter if you run the cue list out of order. The fade down time of cue 1 would only be used if you went from a cue back to cue 1, and fixtures had to lower in intensity. Hope this helps, Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support

Hans The way FLX handles cue fade times is the same way that Jesters work, with the down time effecting any fixtures fading out when go is pressed, not the speed of the previous lighting state to “fade out”. As far as I’m aware this is how all lighting console cue fades work. Edward Quote Edward Smith Product Specialist Email Support

And also effectively how we worked in the "old days" with a manual preset desk - executing the cue was by moving a number of master (or group) faders from max to min, so the "down" time for lights in cue (n-1) was enacted by the speed we moved the outgoing scene fader from max to min when enacting cue n. Similarly the "up" time was for the incoming cue n.
