Dear All,

Zero 88 Fixture Library version 37 has now been released.

For full information, please visit: http://zero88.com/software/library

This release contains 9529 fixtures from 344 different manufacturers. For a list of fixtures in the library please click here.

The library is released in 2 formats:

  • Full version for desks running ZerOS software (ORB Series, Solution series, FLX Series, and Leap Frog 48 & 96).
  • Filtered version for other Zero 88 desks. This removes data that is not used by these other desks, so that the file is smaller. When using a floppy disk (original Frog series, Illusion 500) it is recommended that the floppy disk be freshly formatted before using it.

Download & Installation
The correct format of the library for your desk can be downloaded by clicking the product name below.

The library (.ift file) should be placed in the root directory of the floppy disk or USB stick.

ZerOS desks (FLX, FLX S, ORB Series, Solution series and Leap Frog 48 & 96)
To load this file into your console extract it to the root of a USB stick and plug into your console. Then tap SETUP, tap "Load File", then select the GFT.ift file.

FROG2
To load this file into your console extract it to the root of a USB stick and plug into your console. Then tap SETUP, tap "Load File", then select the GFT.ift file.

JesterML & JesterTL
The fixture library is installed on the desk at manufacture, however this can be updated from USB if required in Setup -> Update Fixture Lib -> Update Library.

Frog Series and Illusion 500
Use 'Common Fixture Manager' (included in the Fixture Tools download) to select the fixtures you wish to use, and save this as a file to a floppy disk.

Diablo
The fixture library is used with the Diablo Fixture Manager PC software.

Sirius 250/500
Use the Fixture Type Editor to import fixture types from the fixture library, and then use the ‘Export Sirius UFT’ function (under the ‘File’ menu) to generate data in the correct format for the Sirius 250/500.

Further details of assigning fixtures on the desk to fixture types in the fixture library can be found in each desk’s operating manual.

Additional Fixtures
If you need a fixture type which is not in the library, please read the following thread:

Hi Alex,

No, it won’t.

However if all the user fixture files are now included in this latest fixture library release, you can tap SETUP -> Clear Options -> Clear User Files, to ensure you don’t have duplicate library entries.

It is worth mentioning a Factory Reset will leave this library installed, but remove all show data, settings, and user files.

Hope this helps,

Edward

Hi

... probably I am doing something wrong. The Fat Frog uses ift or cft files as for fixtures use? And which type of file does the Common fixture manager generate?

Hello,

A .cft file is basically the format of the Fat Frog's fixture library. Using the Common Fixture Manager, you can add in a maximum of 20 fixtures from the fixture library download (.ift), to create your own library, and then export to floppy disk as a .cft file.

You can then also save .ift fixture files onto a floppy disk, extracted from the main library, in order to load extras in. After a clear to defaults however, these will be removed, leaving only the files contained in the .cft file.

Hope this helps,

Edward

Hi

tks a bunch for your reply. I am trying to extract just one fixture from the ift file and then record it to a floppy disc as a cft file. Unfortunately the mixer does not like it. It says something like “ no fixture file found “

but I will give it another try.

i will let you know

tkss again

Hi mmoleiro,

The Fixture Tools contain a utility, "Common Fixture Manager". Are you using that to select fixture definitions and write the cft file? This utility allows you to select 20 fixture type and write a cft file which you load into the Frog. See the "Load CFT" section on page 6-12 of the manual.

The CFT Manager utility I think is installed as part of the Fixture Library Tools.

Hi

Well Kgallen you have saved the day. After all I only had to read the f.manual.

I was doing it all wrong. I was trying to assign a fixture from the floppy containing a cft file and the mixer didn’t recognize it.

I did what you said, loaded the cft file and replaced the existing one in the desk. After that I tried to assign a fixture again and there it was, the cft file I previously loaded.

I thought we could just add one more fixture to the file already existing in the mixer. But you have to create a new file and replace the existing one. I have now, in the mixer, a fixture file containing only...one fixture!

It was, also, only after reading the manual, I realized I had to reboot the mixer to implement the changes.

thank all you guys again

Hi mmoleiro,

If you need a fixture not in the desk then you can always load it from floppy (from an ift file) when you assign fixtures - you don't have to keep creating cft files. The CFT is just the "common" fixtures - the ones you'd like available on the desk by default after you've done a desk reset. So I'd create a CFT with 20 of the fixture types that you most commonly use. Then anything new or one-off just load in from floppy for that show. The fixtures are saved as part of the showfile when you save the show to floppy, so say you had to use a different desk, then everything is included in the show file, you don't need to start changing cft or loading fixtures on that other desk.

For example my CFT includes the LED fixtures I usually use, so they are available on the desk ready to patch for a show. I've removed for example the Robe fixtures because I've never used them in a show, so they are replaced with LED fixtures I do.

Regards,

Kevin
