Keyboard Shortcuts for FLX S (using a USB Keyboard or ZerOS Monitor)

Hello, is there a list of keyboard shortcuts for the FLX S consoles for when I'm using a USB keyboard in the console, or for ZerOS Monitor App on a remote PC or iPad?

I have worked out a few., eg selecting / adding / excluding channels.

Are there commands for

  1. Select "1 THRU 10"
  2. Selecting attributes
  3. Thru
  4. Record
  5. Update
  6. Delete
  7. etc.

There is a list on page 5 on the FLX Training Guide ( https://eaton.nanorep.co/storage/nr1/kb/2AD62C9/3879A76B/3AF13603/5/Zero 88 Training Session - FLX training notes.pdf ), but what about for the FLX S models?

NB:- the "@" symbol on Australian keyboards is on the number 2, whereas in the FLX is expects it to be on 8.  So SHIFT+"8" gives me the "@".

Thanks in advance.

Matthew

Hi Matthew,

A list of keyboard shortcuts compatible with a keyboard/ZerOS Remote Monitor connected to FLX S can be found here...

http://support.zero88.com/998481801

We are looking to extend this list in future.

The syntax page in the FLX training notes is also applicable for FLX S, with the exception of a few buttons FLX S doesn't have. This syntax guide is available here...

(I have removed your duplicate post in "ZerOS Apps" so we can keep all information for the subject in one place)

Hope this helps,

Edward

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the Zero 88 Forum.

I am also looking for the list of keyboard shortcuts but the link you posted isn't working anymore and I can't seem to find them elsewhere. Please can you repost.

We have recently moved away from our old online knowledge base, hence the links are no longer working.

ZerOS 7.9.8 has greatly increased the number of keyboard shortcuts available for FLX S consoles.

For a list of keyboard shortcuts as per ZerOS 7.9.8 and later, see below...

If you have any questions let me know.

Great. Thanks Edward. Very useful.

Also, one comment on the keyboard mapping. It seems very odd to me that the thru function is mapped to > rather than /

The point of the numeric keypad is to type commands quickly and efficiently (and with one hand). When selecting fixtures thru is a regularly used command and the / key is on every standard USB numeric keypad but it is currently unassigned on ZerOS. Instead of using the / key and keeping my hand in the same position users have use both hands and change position on the keyboard. It's a bit clunky when the is a much better alternative easily to hand. Or if / is needed for something then use \ which is nearby and doesn't need the shift key or t which is still logic semantically and also doesn't need the shift key either.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim,

The / shortcut allows you to define playback/cue numbers in record, update and delete commands. For example, RECORD 1/2 ENTER would record cue 2 on playback 1.

The > symbol has always been the shortcut for Thru in ZerOS, and as a symbol makes logical sense. > is also the symbol that has always been available to use in the Copy window to achieve Thru.

We may add another key option for Thru in future.

Hope this helps,

Edward

Hi,

this list of shortcuts seems to be incorrect, at least for some consoles. Though I can select for which console I want to see the shortcuts, the page would have me believe there is no difference between the FLX and the FLX S48. Which is clearly not the case -- for example the manual clearly states that Blind Mode is an FLX-only feature. And if I press the shortcut for Blind (Shift-Z) on the S48, nothing happens.

Is there a complete list of shortcuts which are relevant only for the FLX S consoles?

Another thing -- Coming from another platform, the ">" shortcut for Thru is deeply unintuitive for me too. My preference too would be "T" (and indeed you don't seem to have mapped it to anything else); I can live with it not being "T", but having to press two keys for Thru is a waste of time.

Please see the link below, which I have updated to now include separate keyboard layouts for FLX and FLX S consoles...

You will now be able to use the variant filter top right of the manual to see the relevant content.

Thanks for the feedback. On some other consoles running ZerOS, there is a "Time" key. Therefore we can't use T for Thru, as this is reserved. As on most standard keyboards there is a shift key next to the full stop, typing > is easy enough to do with one hand. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, as a symbol, it makes logical sense for Thru, and has been used in ZerOS for many many years.

This is still the case, logged on our software tracking system as reference number ZOS-10537.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions let me know.
