I was wondering can I use a laptop with a touch screen as an external monitor and how would I connect it to the board would it be with a hdmi to dvi cable or through and router and I It works with the cable do i need a USB cable as well

Yes you certainly can connect a touch screen laptop to FLX S. You’ll be able to connect the console and your laptop with a single Ethernet cable, and then run the ZerOS Remote Monitor software on your laptop.

Information on how to connect your laptop to give you an external screen can be found here...

If you have any queries with this just let me know.

Hi Lloyd,

Welcome to the Zero 88 Forum.

ive downloaded the latest software for windows and the desk but just get a connection error

Please see the link below, containing information on using the Windows Remote application with FLX S24...

https://zero88.com/manuals/zeros/networking/using-the-remote-apps

If you wish to connect a laptop running ZerOS Monitor to the FLX S24, you will be able to use a single Ethernet cable between the two. Using this method, you will need to configure static IP addresses in range of one another, for both the FLX S24 and laptop running ZerOS Monitor. For more information on IP addressing, see the link below...

https://zero88.com/manuals/zeros/networking/ip-addressing

If you have any questions please let me know.

Morning all.  Looking to use another external monitor (perhaps using a laptop) with my desk (FLX). Unfortunately the link is now dead......  Is anyone aware of a new/updated one please.....??

This is a very good point Mac...

Edward, how to we get access to the ex-KB articles and other collateral that's been created over the years? How do we fix these legacy forum links that are all now 404?

I didn't try very hard (like a "typical" user/customer) (*) but I took a wander from the zero88 home page into the support section, to see if finding these articles is obvious. It would seem not. Yes, the new website is very flashy and FLX shouts at you, but as "predicted" when we previewed the new site, the simple substance and access to the key user information has been lost.

How do we fix this?

Kevin

* Actually I tried a bit harder now and I still don't find this info, I'm just going round in circles on the website... I can find user manuals now - although not down the support rabbit-hole -  but what about the KB stuff?

@kgallenJust had a quick womble myself and it looks like the "micro site" used for the knowledgebase has been deleted from the sub domain support.zero88.com - the domain can be accessed but it's blank.

It's very likely therefore (assuming no one did a FB & didn't take regular backups) that restoring a backup should fix the issue in the interim.

All information from the knowledge base articles, now fit into the relevant section of the ZerOS Online Manual...

@Edward Z88I can see how that works for FLX & ZerOS but where do the older articles referring to "legacy" products now reside? I've just had a quick look at the manuals page and can't see any links to Frog/Fat Frog (for example) and there are many still in use & being traded second hand - but often the manuals have been lost/discarded.

That was the beauty of the old knowledgebase - it acted as a repository for such information i.e changing your Jester Battery, Alcora Mk 2 manuals. The kit is still out there being used & traded because it's so darn sturdy (as we all know) - it would be nice to show some "love" by letting folks getting the info they need to use it? :D

You'll be pleased to hear no information has been lost. All non-ZerOS information, is now available as a download to each legacy product page...

If you have any questions let me know.

Thanks for that - on a side note - the Alcora picture on that page isn't the correct picture...

The timer knobs were dark grey to match the fader caps - the knobs on the one in the picture are from a Sirius... But then we're all "guilty" - I've just noticed that the image I use on my website has a Sirius fader cap & Frog timer caps :P

Hey... I want an Alcora Mk1 picture!

With analogue output kit fitted 😛

...my first own-purchase Zero88 product. The first time we ever got a bonus from work and I blew the lot on an Alcora Mk1 with analogue kit. Bought (new) from @iank99 at CTS in July 2000 😀. The Alcora had only been out a couple of months (so forgive me if it was 1999 not 2000, but I think it was 2000). I still have the CTS receipt on yellow carbon-copy fan-fold paper 🤩.

I bet @iank99 has some stories there!

Oddly - there are more pictures around of "complete" Mk 1's than the Mk 2... I have a couple of analogue output boards too if you know someone wants one :P

And stories... owh yes - dozens - nearly all of them un-shareable in the public domain.

Let's not do that... we had so many complaints about the old knowledgebase... the search would ignore any words of three characters or less, so no results for "FLX" "FLX S" FLX S24" or "ORB"! If an article related to multiple products, it would pick one "randomly" to show in the breadcrumb list which created much confusion - you click FLX > Spare Fader and the breadcumb list would show ORB > Spare Fader 🤦‍♂️

Agreed the old KB was awful to use. But the content was gold (when you could find it).

Thank you for providing links to legacy equipment

No problem - we're proud of our history and have no plans to remove all the great content. There are some gems, especially the "Eclipse" console manual!...
