Benjamin Newton Posted January 10, 2019 Report Posted January 10, 2019 Hello I'm a struggling user of a TLXtra and somehow over Christmas I changed the settings on the Sub-Master buttons so they no longer do anything, previously they performed a momentary Flash. I've found the relevant bit in the manual pg 25, but I can't follow it through correctly. Being able to use the other options such as Solo would also be useful. Just to assist in my incompetence the LCD screen 3rd from right is dead, so I can't use it for anything... Any assistance gratefully received, Many thanks Benjamin Quote

If you mean the LCD immediately to the right of the Page Up and Down buttons, then this is your main issue, as this LCD and these MFKs (Multi-Function Keys) are where the Submaster flash buttons are configured. When the console is in Run mode (press MODE if you're in Program, press and hold MODE if you're in Preset), tap SPECIAL, and the first MFK LCD allows you to set the button function. The first MFK button will toggle the console between the buttons being disabled, and the buttons being flash. The second will toggle between Solo and Latch, and third will toggle between Go/Step, and Beat. You should find despite the screen not working that you can still use the buttons to change the option. I have managed to get around that screen not working, as most things also appear on the external display. Unfortunately having spoken to yourselves about this before, the LCD in question is not a replaceable part and would thus require a full board replacement at a cost circa £500 - which I'm sure you would agree would be much better spend towards a FLX 24. I'm tempted to see if there are any part numbers visible on the LCDs, but I really don't want to screw the thing up if I can help it. Again, Many thanks Benjamin Quote

Yes that's correct, that LCD is part of a larger PCB. I may be biased, but yes, putting the money towards a new FLX S24 would certainly sound like a better investment to me! Is the LCD a standard part that's available from an electronics supplier? Maybe you should have a chat with Ian Knight http://www.serviceguy.co.uk/zero88-legacy-service-repair/ to check feasibility.
