Software update of the ORB XF Console running with ZerOS 7.8.2.36 with ZerOS 7.9.4 using a bootable USB memory stick.

Hi there.

I am kindly asking you to advise me on the following problem. I made a software update of the ORB XF Console running with ZerOS 7.8.2.36 with ZerOS 7.9.4 using a bootable USB memory stick. There are two more options to update the processor firmware. Unfortunately, I did not find information in the software release notes whether I must also make these two updates.

I loaded the spectacle file (cue list) generated by the old ZerOS 7.8.2.36, but in the submasters (playbacks) appeared information which was not recorded in advance.

Please inform me why such problem with the submasters appears and how to proceed further. Should I make these two processor firmware updates?

Best regards,

Hi Mihail,

The option to manually update the coprocessor is not necessary, as this automatically happens as part of the ZerOS 7.9.4 install. This is sometimes necessary when rolling back software.

ZerOS 7.9.4 is very different software to ZerOS 7.8.2.36. Submasters no longer exist, and instead what used to be Submasters, cue stacks and chases are now all referred to as playbacks. You can find out more about these changes here...

This therefore means your show file will have been converted into the new format when you loaded it into the new software. At the point of load in, it will have given you a breakdown of any changes that had to be made, such as Submasters converting to single-cue playbacks.

If you are having trouble with your show file in the new software, please send us an email to support@zero88.com with a copy of the original ZerOS 7.8.2.36 show file. Please then list any issues you have encountered, and we can check the conversion is correct. One of the team will be able to get back to you after New Year.

For future software updates, you will simply be able to load in the executable install file into the console like a show file, rather than having to create a bootable drive.

Hope this helps, any queries let me know.
