MatthewD
Hello, The screen graphics on some of the external devices of our FLX S is very pixelated and unclear to read. This includes with the External Monitor (DVI), Phantom ZerOs (on the PC), iPad, and iPhone. Is there an optimal resolution for the various screens? Is there some way to force the windows or screen resolutions to the optimal / native resolution so that the words are clear and more readable? Thanks in advance. Edward Z88
Hi Matthew, The DVI-D monitor output on the FLX S48 has a 1024 x 768 resolution that cannot be configured. The Remote devices shouldn't be pixelated. How are these connected over the network? What iPad and iPhone models are you using? Any queries let me know. MatthewD
Hi Edward, Thanks for you reply. The 1024x768 resolution must be what is causing the pixelated image on the external monitor, and also the iPad. I'm guessing it's the same image used for both, just stretched over the external monitor, and again on the iPad? Are there any plans to improve the resolution of this image? The Phantom ZerOS has a cleaner more native pixel allocation, except for the Front Panel window, which is almost unreadable, even at full maximised state. (please see screen shot attached). And this happens for both "High Quality Scaling" on or off, in the settings. Please advise if there is a way to setup the computer of FLX to obtain better images for any of the above. Thanks in advance, Regards, Matthew
Erics
ZerOS Front Panel looks for me unreadable too 🙂 https://zero88.com/forum/topic/8312-gui-graphical-user-interface-phantomos/ Quote I use: Zero 88 FLX S48 / ETC ColorSource 40 / GLP Creation 4096 / Chamsys MQ70 / Madrix
kgallen
Ditto. I certainly struggle to use PhantomOS effectively (on a desktop PC with two sizeable pro screens) - screen readability and having to use the mouse to click virtual buttons (and right click to hold the shift key and all that). It's just a simile of what we had for the Frog range of desks, which had the same usability quirks. As I understand it (it's written here somewhere on the Frog forum), the Frog version was a tool that the software team developed for internal use and it got punted out to the user-base as a cheap/easy way to provide an "off-line editor" for the common user. For me though it was never designed from the outset as a usable off-line editor. Hence PhantomOS... Sorry Zero88 chaps...

No, it's not the same image - ZerOS Monitor will use the device's native resolution (usually halved if it's "retina") to draw the output. Therefor, you may see more/less content on a tablet than you will on the physical monitor output of a console. The physical monitor outputs of FLX S48, Solution Series and ORB XF are each limited to 1024*768. The full size FLX and any Remote Monitor (on any console) do not have this resolution limitation. 14 hours ago, MatthewD said: Are there any plans to improve the resolution of this image? I'm interested in seeing the photos first to understand exactly where the problem is. 14 hours ago, MatthewD said: The Phantom ZerOS has a cleaner more native pixel allocation, except for the Front Panel window, which is almost unreadable, even at full maximised state. (please see screen shot attached). Phantom ZerOS will scale the LCD on the front panel based around the rest of the console layout - this is why there's also an option to "Show LCD" as a separate window at the correct resolution. 8 hours ago, kgallen said: Sorry Zero88 chaps... That's OK... it's certainly on the list of things to revisit, but the console software itself comes first! 🙂 Quote Jon Hole Global Product Manager, Systems and Control
diacong
We have a new FLX S24 and I too was very disappointed when I first ran Phantom ZerOS on my Windows 10 machine. The text is virtually unreadable, takes me back 30 plus years to Windows 3.0 days and not having the correct font installed. Is there a plan to correct this or am I doing something wrong? Nick01
Was there any outcome from this post? Fairly new to phantom and downloaded today, and seem to be experiencing the same issue. Thanks
Edward Z88
Hi Nick, Welcome to the Zero 88 Forum. There have been no resolution improvements to Phantom ZerOS Front Panel window since this topic. If you are unsure of a front panel button, hover over it with your cursor, and the button name will be displayed in the Front Panel header bar. The virtual internal touchscreen will not be improved, as this can be opened as a separate Phantom window, by ticking "Show LCD" in the Phantom ZerOS launcher. Nick01
This offline program really is dreadful!! Defiantly not intended for the professional market no? Chamsys/MA/Avo/ETC....even freestyler, all have amazing offline platforms. Guys how can you get this so wrong?
Jon Hole
Hi Nick, Thanks for your comments. Our priority is, and always has been, developing the console software and our remote apps. That's how we develop features such as award winning RigSync, patented colour interfaces, Apple Watch focus tool, and many more. We know a relatively low (but growing) percentage of our userbase use Phantom ZerOS. Those people who do use it, presumably do so because they find some use from it. I'd say that the displays, touch emulation, tracking backup etc all work very well, but that it's the front panel controls that are a little more tricky. We've spent some time working on improvements here... in the next software update we're adding a whole host of keyboard shortcuts, replicating every front panel button of FLX & FLX S (plus many more). We're already using these during remote training courses over lockdown and have found operators no longer need to use the front panel window of Phantom ZerOS (apart from fader movements) - dramatically speeding up their workflow. We've found these shortcuts a great improve to the experience - they seem to solve the number one complaint about Phantom ZerOS - so we're looking forward to releasing! Edward Z88
As an update to this thread, the Phantom ZerOS Front Panel windows of FLX series consoles have had a large update...
