The manual, under "Cues", states that it's possible to have a cue numbered "2.1". This would be similar to "Insert Cue" on a Jester desk. I wish to do an "Insert Cue" but cannot work out how this is done. You don't seem to be able to choose your cue number anywhere so your new cue ends up as the next cue in the stack instead of being "inserted" where you want it. I tried copying this cue to a cue "2.1" but it just says this cue is not available.

Hi Dave,

This is done by defining the cue number you wish to record. Therefore create your lighting state you wish to be inserted, tap RECORD, and then type the cue number you wish this to be stored as. This can be done by tapping Z, to allow you to type on the syntax pad, or if you have a USB keyboard plugged in, you may use this for numeric entry instead. After typing your cue number, you can then tap your payback's button to complete the record command in the usual way. For more information, please see the article below...

You should be able to copy an existing cue to a cue number with a decimal place (and then delete the original if you so wish). Can you remember what the error message said that you were presented with when you tried to do this?

Any queries let me know.

Hi Edward,

I was able to "Copy" a cue to a cue "6.5". When I try to "Record" a cue to a decimal point number, I set the scene up, tap "Record", tap"Z" and the keypad comes up. I type "6" OK but when I type the decimal point the displayed "6" and the decimal point turn red. When I type another "6" the number turns into "66" in yellow. I hit the playback button. When I check the stack, I don't have a cue "66". The cue has just been added to the end of the stack.

I have now tried this umpteen times. "Copy" to a decimal point cue number is fine. Set a scene, tap "Record", then tap "Z" no keypad appears. Tap playback button and cue gets recorded at end of stack. I've tried holding down "Z" and tapping playback button and keypad appears. As soon as I type the decimal point the numbers go red. When I go back to the stack the scene is at the end of the stack.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the description. Tapping the button labelled "Z / SHIFT" should at any point (other than in Setup) take you into the Quick access functions, containing a number pad. Is it only after tapping RECORD that you find Z/SHIFT doesn't seem to be doing anything? Pressing and holding Z/SHIFT shouldn't ever open the Quick Access Functions, as the button is then acting as a shift key.

Therefore you should be able to set your scene, tap RECORD -> Z/Shift -> type your cue number (for example 2.5), and tap your playback button. Whilst doing this you should see "RECORD 2.5" written in the command line along the bottom of the quick access functions.

If this isn't what you're seeing, can you confirm the software version your FLX S in running? You can check this by tapping Z/SHIFT -> System Information, and in here will be a line of text displaying the Software Version. The current software version is ZerOS 7.9.4. It would also be useful whilst you're in this screen to tap "Event Monitor". Is there any text displayed in here, or is it a blank blue screen?

Any queries let me know,

Edward

Hi Edward,

Sorry I didn't get back sooner but have been working at our Theatre all day so only just read your post. With nothing being programmed on the desk, pressing "Z" gives me the "Quick Access Functions" page. If I now raise faders on several Dimmer Channels to program a cue, the LED in the buttons below the faders light. I then tap "record" and all the LED's flash presumably waiting for me to choose a playback to contain my cue. The display shows a page entitled "FLX Record Options". On this page "Smart Tag" & "Track Forwards" have a red line, everything else has a blue line or is "grayed" out. If I now tap "Z" nothing changes in the window. It still displays "FLX Record Options". The Software version is "7.9.4.3 4/5/2018". The desk is brand new. Only delivered the end of last week.

All I've done is DMX patched faders 1 to 36 to "Dimmer" and have added a moving light from the library just to try out doing it. The desk has not even been connected to the Theatre system yet.

Hope this explains where I'm at. As I posted earlier "Copy" works fine so I could fudge it by programming a cue into the end of the stack, copy it to, say, 6.5 then delete the original but it is a fudge.

Hi Dave,

Ah I see the issue. If you tap SETUP -> System Settings, and scroll down to the Operational Settings section, it sounds like the "Show Record and Update Window" setting is set to Internally. The default option is When Held, which means in most cases you can access the num pad in the Quick Access functions, but if you require access to the Record/Update options you can press and hold RECORD or UPDATE. Therefore set this to "When held", exit Setup, and now you'll be able to tap RECORD -> Z/SHIFT -> type your cue number -> tap your playback to store this to.

Hope that helps, any queries let me know.

Hi Edward,

Thanks for the post. All OK now. It allows me to enter a "decimal point" cue number fine. It also allows me to enter any cue number which isn't already present so it allows you to leave gaps in your cue list so that you can infill later if need be. I sometimes do this for a revue style event when you are not sure what each act requires. Although with FLX you could program separate playbacks.

I have a small query but am unsure who I should contact about it. The LED in the playback button under Fader #2 does not light up ever not even when the LED's are scrolling as the desk boots up. I don't want to create a new topic because this is really a warranty issue. Who should I get in touch with regarding this. As posted previously the desk is brand new.

Hi Dave,

Glad that solved the issue for you.

Have you tested the fader button LED in test mode? If not that would be worth double checking. To do this switch your FLX S on with the SETUP key held down. The console will then boot into Test mode, and you’ll see an image of the front panel in the touchscreen. Every button you now tap should light, as shown on the touchscreen. Test button 2 and see if it lights. If not unfortunately there is a hardware fault with your console. Your best bet will be to contact your distributor you bought the console from, who should be able to arrange a replacement for you if you can show it’s an out the box problem.

If you have any queries let me know.

Hi Edward,

Tried the Test and all looked fine so I'm assuming the software is doing it's job just a hardware problem. Desk is on it's way back to you via the firm we purchased it from.

Thanks for all your help. I'm looking forward to the first show mid. October using the FLX S48 for the first time.
