Payback Names not being stored after power off

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

After re-laying out my playbacks to a more logical order on the FLX I've noticed that new ones that have named are not being stored after the desk is powered off and back on again. One that have been stored before are still there and remain after the desk has been switched off and on, but new ones disappear. The function of the newly recorded playback remains, but its just the name that vanishes. Have I missed a secret save option that I did before but have somehow forgotten ?

Some of these playbacks were copied to other playbacks on different pages before they were deleted and recorded as new playbacks, I this case intensities for all the fixtures, and the playbacks are page locked for playbacks 1-12. I did try unlocking one of them and re-saving the same but made no difference.

thanks

Martin

Hi Martin,

I haven't come across this before. Could you confirm the software version running on your FLX?

If you name a playback, and then power cycle straight away, do you always find your playback name has been lost?

If you name a playback, tap SETUP to enter Setup, tap SETUP to exit setup, power cycle the console, has your playback name been lost?

Any queries let me know.

Edward

Hi Edward,

Yes its running 7.9.4

Previously when naming playbacks they have remained after powering off the console. Some of the original playback names still remain, but any recent ones just vanish, with the exception of two playbacks I named yesterday which do remain, however if I try and change one of these then the changes aren't saved.

Saw an error, co processor is missing during boot up ? That normal ? was highlighted in red on the external screen.

Ok, so entering setup and exiting setup, this did seem to save the name on the playback, however as I'm writing this and testing it, the console ( maybe related to the error above ) won't show any page numbers, cannot select anything either so looks a bit stuck !

Hi Martin,

After further investigating, if you tap NAME, and then tap a playback, the configured name will be remembered on reboot. If you enter a playback settings -> Advanced -> Playback Name, configure a name, and then power cycle, the names will be lost. If you however name a playback through the playback settings, then enter the console Setup, and then exit Setup, the name will be remembered (tap SETUP once to enter Setup, and again to exit). I have logged this information on our system as ZOS-8844.

Any queries let me know.

Edward

Please could you tap Z -> System Information -> System Text -> scroll up until you get to this red text, and then take a picture of this and email it to me? Please could you also email me to serial number of the console, as found on the back panel.

Do any front panel buttons light? When you're in Setup is the SETUP key lit? If not then this is related to the error the console is reporting.

If you have any queries let me know, I will look into why the console is reporting this error. You should find power cycling solves the issue.

Second reboot seems to have fixed the above issue !

I notice briefly when entering and exiting the setup screen there's a very quick message on the external screen saying saving.... something, so I guess this is doing what I need to ;)

I'll keep you posted on the crashy restart it did just now, first time I've seen that happen. Internal screen showed the colour pallets, but literally every other button didn't operate or any of the LEDs lit when buttons selected etc..

Reboot number 3 after a setup / exit setup and the playback names remain !! Thanks Edward, saved some Sunday hair pulling out times ;)

That's correct, when you exit Setup, information currently stored in the console's RAM is dumped onto the on-board storage.

Thanks for the information- keep me updated on whether this happens again.
