Hello,

Since 3 hours I'm trying to use the fixture SUNSTRIP 10CH with effect CHASER (in palette) in order to create automatic pattern with my sunstrips and I can't apply to this chaser the "forward individual offset" to "shift" the lit of my 10 lamps of a sunstrip (and user speed override to change the speed of the defined chaser).

Somebody can help me please, how make this offset of the chaser between the 10 subfixtures of my sunstrips ?

Thks

Regards

Hi Oliver,

Currently, FLX S supports subfixtures (or "compound fixtures") via direct control on the encoder wheels only (so, for example, you could manually create a step-based chase onto a Playback).

However - we're currently implementing true support for compound fixtures into ZerOS, which we're expecting to release in Q1 or Q2 of 2018. On FLX S, this will give you some further control on linear fixtures such as Sunstrips and LED battens.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for answer.

I've got another question, I have made a scene with my PAR led for exemple in color red (playback 1) and try to use a manual white chase on this fixture (playback 2). I would like the chase be done "unless" lit off the light. In fact, I would like the par led stay red and becomes white just for the chase (I do this with my jester 24/48) whereas with my FLXS, the chase has priority and lit off the PAR led during execution, I have to stop the chase to retrieve red color.

I'm sure it's because fo one of my setup but I can't find it ...

Guest Question about BPM
Posted

Ok, thank you for this answer, I understand my mistake.

I'm trying to control the speed of a chase effect (create with the effect tab and 4 fixtures for example) with a MFF playback. I've found It's possible to assign to a MFF playback the "speed overide" , but I Wonder if it's possible to assign at this MFF (or the button of the MFF) the BPM control (to control the speed of the chaser by TAP TEMPO).

I managed to control by BPM my own chasers but not the automatic chasers (of attribute tab). Thks.

Hello,

You can't put Effect speed onto a Playback fader. However what you can do if you program an effect onto a fader, is enable Fader Controls Effect. To do this create your effect, tap RECORD, and then tap the Playback you'd like it on. Then hold SETUP + tap the Playback's button, and enable Fader Controls... Effect. This means that as well as controlling the fixture's intensity, the Fader also scales the speed of the chase.

Alternatively, program a Group that has the lights included in the effect selected. You can then live select this group, and then go to the effects tab, and then use the Effects Speed encoder wheel live to speed up or slow down the effect.

The other option is to Record the Effect onto the Master Playback, as you can then use Speed Override to control the speed of the Effect. Speed Override can be found under the Z key, or as you found can be put on an empty Playback by holding SETUP + tapping an empty Playback.

Hope that helps and makes sense, any queries let me know.

Kind regards
Edward

Hi Ed,

Does the Speed Override control only work with the Master Playback? I had a bit of a test the other day and wondered why I couldn't get anything responding to the override fader I'd set up. If this is correct then that would explain why I had the issues.

Thanks

Hi Joe,

Speed Override only effects the Playback you are currently viewing (by default this is the Master Playback). To View different Playbacks hold the VIEW key and press the button of the Playback you wish to view. The Speed Override will then effect this Playback.

Hope that helps,

Edward

Hi Jon,

Do you have any expected release date for this linear fixture support on FLX S ?

Many thanks.

Hi Fred,

We don't yet have a more specific time frame yet other than the one Jon stated - looking to be Q1 or Q2 this year.

Any queries let me know

Hi Jon,

Hi Edward,

What are the latest news about this feature and a possible update of the FLX S24?

I have a show planned in April where I'd like to use such devices and I would like to know if the feature will be native in the console or if I'll have to use as many channels as the individual LED number on the device, which could lead to a huge number of channel used (maybe too many ;-) )

Many thank for your feedback.

Best regards,

Fred

Hi Fred,

No update on this one yet I’m afraid. We’ve been working on ZerOS 7.9.4, which is an enhancement/ bug fix software update due to be released within the next week.

Your best bet is to plan your rig allowing for each segment of the sun strip to be an individual fixture.

Any queries let me know

I also bought two secondhand Sunstrips. How do I patch them as individual fixtures? I guess there is also no news on the software update?

Depending on the DMX details of the SunStrip, you need to identify the "unique" bit and the bit that is repeated per segment. The per-segment bit is probably just RGB, so just patch "n" consecutive generic RGB fixtures from the first DMX address of the first degment. For the "unique" bit - which will have some control channels specific to the model of SunStrip - you need a fixture definition just for this bit. This might already be in the library, if not then send a link to the manual to FixtureSupport@Zero88.com explaining what you want to do, and they'll make up the fixture definition parts you need.

If you search the forum for sunstrip there have been a few queries related to yours, so these might help or point you in the right direction.

If these are "standard" sunstrips containing 10 individual generic cells, then patch 10 dimmer fixtures per sunstrip, with the first DMX address of the 10 matching that set on the sunstrip. You will then be able to create a group of these 10 dimmers, for if you want to control the whole sunstrip together. If your sunstrip is more complex as Kevin describes, then send us an email and one of the team will be able a dedicated file to control it.

ZerOS 7.9.4 has been released, however ZerOS doesn't yet contain multi-cell fixture support. This is of course still on our software road-map.

If you have any queries let us know.

Hi All,

Almost one year since this information that multi-cells devices should be supported in a further release expected by Q1 or Q2 2018.

What are the latest update on this topic ?

Thanks.

Hi Fred,

This was recently asked in another sub forum:

Sounds like we still have a short wait yet!

Cheers,

Alex

Hi All,

I'm currently in the same boat and I've been googling a bit but can't find multicell support in any of the things I've looked at yet. Was this ever implemented?

Thanks,

Joel

Multi-cell fixture support on FLX S, has been pushed back due to other requested features taking priority. Therefore currently to use the auto effects across the lamps of a Sunstrip, the lamps can be patched as individual dimmer channels.

Alternatively, you can patch the whole Sunstrip as a dedicated fixture from the library, and program your own chases to adjust the brightness of the individual lamps. When the Sunstrip is patched as a single fixture, auto effects will be applied to all lamps of the Sunstrip at once.

If you have any questions let me know.
