Hi all,

I am working on a show and plan to control all the different elements from Multiplay. As the Jester ML supports MSC commands I thought I could send commands from Multiplay. However it looks as if Multiplay doesn't actually support MIDI show control.

Could I fire the go button on the Jester through traditional MIDI notes instead or is there some way I could get MSC commands out of the PC (even if this meant triggering a secondary program to send the command)?

Many thanks,

Hamish

Hi Hamish,

If memory serves correctly from using mulitplay you can add a midi cue that fires midi notes? I have;t used it in a long time and only ever used it for video and audio...

I'd suggest just having a play and see what works :)

Hi Hamish,

Yes, it looks like Multiplay doesn't support MIDI Show Control, which is a shame as this is exactly how you should be doing what you're planning.

Do you have access to a Mac? A lot of people run QLab, which works brilliantly. I'm not aware of any decent PC software that can trigger MIDI Show Control, but I'm sure there's some that exists!

All the best,

Hi I use 'show cue systems' for windows, if you buy the pro version this does support MSC and is far more superior to multiplay giving a better quality of sound (one of the reasons I use it over multiplay)

Thanks for you replies.

Unfortunately the show is this weekend and I don't have time to move everything over to QLab even if I did find a Mac.

I downloaded PC Stage which looks like it may do the job: taking MIDI notes from Multiplay (through MIDI Yoke) and then sending MSC commands to the desk. While this isn't it's intended purpose it seems the best option.

Before I waste my time does anyone know If I'm heading the wrong way, or if there is an easier way to do this?

If there is no solution (because I have a Jester :P -sorry) I can just make do with having two cue lists.

Hi Hamish,

When I had to run a show using FXLive 2 (iPad App) I was using windows movie maker for the projection and our Jester ML 24 as the lighting controller. To do that on my own I used my keyboard sustain pedal with the jester. This means I could use my foot to operate the Jester, and two hands to do the sound and projection.

It's clunky, it's difficult... but it worked...

The problem is that (as far as I know) you can't activate the go button/command from a MIDI note but only through MIDI Show Control.

For the next show I will grab a copy of Show Cue Systems but for this one I'll just make do with having two separate cue lists.

Thanks for your help,

Hi, did you manage to get this working and if so could you explain how? I have tried to use PC Stage but cant even find MSC within it. I am in the same situation as you and would really appreciate the help. I have the Jester TL Xtra and want to use Multiplay with PC stage inbetween them.

Thanks

Hello,

Just to clarify, MIDI Notes can be used to turn on/off Channels in Preset Mode, and Submasters in Run Mode.

MSC can then be used to control the cue list in Run Mode. The different controls this can perform can be found on page 61 of the manual...

I am not aware of using PCStage, so we'll have to see if the OP comes back to give you an answer.

Kind regards
Edward
