leito Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 Hey, I'm trying to do a small light show and we've a frog 2 and a mac running qlab. In qlab the software does not detect an output patch: [1 - No Output Device]. Is software for the Frog required to be installed on the computer to be able to use the midi feature? This website would seem to suggest so for the 'miniStageConsole': http://www.chromakinetics.com/DMX/QLab_miniStageConsole.html If not, does the Frog need to be set up in a certain way? Thanks! Quote
Franck Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 Not what your device does but the Frog 2 supports MIDI/SMPTE time code. Quote
Jon Hole Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 MIDI is a one way signal, so it doesn't matter what you plug the Midi cable into, as it doesn't talk back to the computer. This means that 'No Output Device' is your Mac / QLab not detecting the physical MIDI adaptor you are plugging in (I assume via USB?) rather than the device at the end of the MIDI cable. Hope this makes sense? It might be worth sending the guys at Figure 53 an email. Quote Jon Hole Global Product Manager, Systems and Control
leito Posted September 23, 2012 Author Report Posted September 23, 2012 Thanks Jon, yes it's USB to Midi. I'll give it a try on Monday and if all fails I'll get in touch with Figure 53. Quote
leito Posted September 24, 2012 Author Report Posted September 24, 2012 Right, I've now managed to get qlab sending an output to the usb to midi (lights flash on in/out depending on how I plug it in). I've enabled midi in the settings (24fps) and also in the que stack (In Stack Setup). Is anything else missing? Thanks for your time! Quote
Jon Hole Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 You just need to add in the trigger in each cue you wish to trigger by MTC. You can do this by double clicking in the 'comments' section of the cue, or using the syntax CUE x SETUP Quote Jon Hole Global Product Manager, Systems and Control
