Info on Chilli's

Just wondered if someone could tell me the difference between all the different versions of Chillis that are out there. Have checked out the manuals but cant find a definitive answer anywhere.

 

Basically, I am looking at it in the context of supplying a venue with 48 or 96 channels of dimming capability over DMX.

The Chillis numbering works like this...

 

The first 1/2 digits indicate the number of channels (4, 12, 24)

The next two digits indicate the amperage per channel (10 or 16)

 

and then either i or HF.

 

i is a standard leading-edge thyristor dimmer for resistive or inductive loads, HF is a high frequency ballast controller version capable of dimming DSI or 0V to +10V flourescent lamps (providing compatible electronic ballasts are used), as well as acting as a switch pack. HF is available in both the 4 and 12 channel cabinets.

 

In addition to these, the "Pro" dimmers feature Neutral disconnect breakers instead of standard breakers. These are most applicable in the European market where certain countries safety standards require them.

 

Some models can also be ordered +RCD which feature a master RCD at the top of the cabinet for overall protection of the circuits on the pack.
