dfcowell Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Hey everyone. I have this Martin CX-2 and I want to connect it to my Fat Frog. But it has a 3-pin DMX connector, now, my Fat Frog only has connections for 5-pinners. How would I go about connecting it for DMX control? :? Quote
rclites Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 theritically you only use 3 pins for info right now may change later as technology changes! You can make a adapter but connecting a 3 pin xlr to a 5 pin xlr depending on whether your fixture is 2 or 3 pin hot ! It should tell you in your console or fixture manual which pins are actually used for your consloe! I hope this helps! It is a good Idea to always keep several of these turn-arounds available at all times as this could be a show stopper on set-up! I keep both 5 pin male to 3 pin female and 5 pin female to 3 pin male! dwh Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 The CX-2 uses 1 Ground 2- 3+ so all you have to do is wire a straight-through DMX cable with a 5-pin XLR at one (for your fat frog) and a 3-pin XLR at the other (for your light) 5-pin male 3-pin female 1------------1 2------------2 3------------3 4 5 Quote
dfcowell Posted February 12, 2006 Author Report Posted February 12, 2006 Thanks dwh, I thought it'd probably be something simple like that, rclites, I'll take your advice and make up a few, you're right about it being a show-stopper. Quote
