I think the part number you've quoted is an RS part number, not a Zero88 part number. All Zero88 cables are tested prior to leaving the factory.

Have you buzzed through all the pins to check for shorts/opens? How long is the cable? Do you have a DMX terminator on the end of the line etc. etc.?

Just checking but as well as testing that pin 1 is connected to pin 1, 2 to 2 and 3 to 3 have you tested for shorts between pins?

Hmm, very strange. Even if the cable was too capacitive, at 3.5m long it shouldn't make that much difference.

Very odd.

On a short length of cable like that you would normally get away without a terminator.

What are the DMX LEDs on the front of the Betapack doing? What DMX address do you have the Betapack set to?

Does it all still work if you plug the old cable back in? Or did you dismantle the old cable to build the new one...

Hurrah issue resolved but still curious.

There were 4 beta packs daisy chained together. By disconnecting them all annd just using the new cable it worked. Plugging just one of the old cables down stream and it didn't. Having an old one upstream and new one down stream and it worked. You probably have to have a PHd in impedance to work it out.

Now have made completely new daisy chain all working just fine.

Indeed still rather curious.....

Thanks for your help.
