Stairville MH250S Moving Light

These are quite small fixtures as fixtures go and we have obtained a couple for our school rig. They have the benefit of being quite cheap but will give the students some experience of using and controlling intellegent Lighting.

We are having difficulty with the fixture file, everything works as it should do apart from the dimming function which is defined in channel 7. The lamp is permanently on full except when the shutter function blacks it out.

The channel 6 is shown on the spec as unused and thus as been left out of the file (would this make any difference and if it needs to be in for padding what parameters should we use?

Has anybody else used these fixtures, they may be re-badged possibly ACME but I can not find the specific fixture on their site.

Any help or views would be appreciated.

Hi David,

Does the fixture dim if you lower the Grand Master, or press the Blackout button on the desk? If so it could be your 'Virtual Presets'. Have a look at the 'FIX BR' green bar on the monitor screen - this indicates the Virtual Preset levels. Lower them by selecting the fixtures, pressing brightness, and then spinning the wheel down.

Also useful to look at would be the outputs screen, to see what the desk is actually sending to the lights. If you don't trust the fixture profile, then check the DMX outputs screen (press +/- from the outputs screen) to be really sure!

Hope this helps,

Paul.

All the helpful tips helped prove that the Frog etc was working perfectly. Reveiwed the manual and discovered that there was two types of fixtures with that code one was a wash and the other a spot. The wash had the dimmer function and the spot did not have it. We have the spot.

Many thanks for the advice I have learnt alot.
