Dave Walker Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Hi, Where can I get a Boot Disk for my Illusion 120? I couldn't find one on the website. Thanks, Dave walker. Quote
K-Nine Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 We don't normally provide 'Boot Disks' just the latest software upgrade disks, on our website. Incidentally what would you expect a boot disk to provide :?: Quote K-Nine : Technically Advanced Roving Dog In Space Bran Media | Myspace
Dave Walker Posted June 6, 2003 Author Report Posted June 6, 2003 Well, The 120 i'm trying to get going comes up with the message, "no operating system, insert boot disk then press any key". Thanks, Dave Walker. Quote
Simon Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 The disk it is asking for is the operating system upgrade disk. You can download it from here. Extract the zip file to a freshly formatted floppy disk, and insert it into the desks floppy drive and switch the desk on. Quote Simon Aspland
Dave Walker Posted June 9, 2003 Author Report Posted June 9, 2003 Hi again, I did as you advised and the instruction on the screen tells me to "remove floppy disk or other media and press any key". I did this, then it asks for the boot disk again. Any ideas? Quote
Simon Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Could you tell me what bios version the desk reports when it first starts up? Quote Simon Aspland
Paul Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 The message the Illusion BIOS displays should be "operating system not found. please insert an upgrade disk, and switch the desk off, and back on". If the message your desk is displaying anything other than this, then it seems that your desk has the wrong BIOS EPROM fitted! There were a couple of very early prototype desks we made, which should never have left the building, where this might be the case. If you have one of these, then the only answer really is to send it back to Keith to have all the chips upgraded. What's the serial number of your desk by the way? What are it's origins??? Quote
Mike R Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Dave, I had the same problem when I tried to install the latest version (7 ) of the Illusion OS, the solution I found was to continually reboot the desk with the OS floppy in the drive until the desk recognised it was there and installed it.
