pearcehire Posted November 21, 2002 Report Posted November 21, 2002 We have a problem with one of the DMX outputs on a Fat Frog. Output A when appears to keep dropping out every 3 or so seconds very briefly. It's not noticeable when using movers but when using dimmers it causes the lights to dip on and off. I am assuming that as it is only affecting one of the two outputs it is the opto-isolator or the driver chip (assuming that the outputs are individually driven). Is this something that we can replace easily ourselves as we could do with the desk not being away for repair for a couple of weeks. Thanks Quote John Huson Lighting Manager Pearce Hire http://www.pearcehire.co.uk
Paul Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 The outputs are indeed independantly driven. Try swapping the 2 driver chips around, to see if the fault follows the chip or stays with the output. If the fault is the chip, give our friendly service bloke Keith a call for a spare. If the fault is still with the output, try taking the DMX output PCB out and checking for dry joints on the back. Quote
