Too often during a show I roll the beamshape wheel to the values for reset or lamp off and put the Mac 250's out of commission for 30 seconds to 7 minutes.

Can I eliminate a rolling the wheel beyond a certain level somehow, but yet access it when I have intentionally want to?

Thanks,

Jeff

I think you can disable the reset function on the head itself.

I'm not sure, but I think I came across it when I was messing with the functions on a MAC 600 last weekend

At present there is no simple way of limiting the output range of an LTP parameter/channel.

It is just unfortunate that there are a number of fixtures which have the lamp on/off and reset commands on the same channel as another function (eg shutter). Now if they put these controls on a separate channel, life would be much simpler

On the heads, navigate to PERS, dRES and ensure that it is set to OFF. This will disable the remote DMX reset command. You can also disable the remote lamp off by setting dLOF to OFF.

If you have these settings done and you decide you wish to remote reset the fixture, set the following channels:

Color 1: 12

Prism: 84

Gobo1<>: 0

Shutter: 211 (reset) / 255 (lamp off)

Hold these values for around 5 seconds, then HOME the fixture, and the function will be performed.

If only resetting all fixtures were that simple :P

The problem is that not all fixtures work in a standard way to reset themselves. Clay Paky fixtures require all channels at 0 to reset, whilst Martin fixtures have Shutter @ ~85%. Highend, on the other hand, require a bizarre series of commands to reset their fixtures, including specific times between values. Most fixtures have the facility to disable remote reset within their menus, under which circumstances, would you want the desk still to be able to reset the fixtures?

Having said that, with RDM (Remote Device Management), this is entirely possible. However, not many fixtures are RDM compliant yet (mainly because the standard hasn't been completed), so it'll be a while before desks + fixtures can communicate in this manor. Until then, its down to setting channels at particular values.

oh, only really used the fixture wheels on my fat frog for controlling scrollers

U onely use the remote option to turn the lamp of the fixture on and off.

it saves a lot of time if the lamp doesnt turns on automatically and I have to climb to the rig
