Morn Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Is it possible to map fixture values of a scene or a chase in editing or blind editing mode to the screen like it is done with the HTP values of generic channels? Would be quiet handy for me 'cause external Monitor and keyboard are on the left side of the desk, and it is a long way (or a long look) to the fixture LCD on the other side of the desk. And of course it would increase overview a bit. Thanx Quote So, if you don't start drinking...I'm gonna leave!!!

Morn Posted April 12, 2005 Author Report Posted April 12, 2005 Yes, something like that in the "channel edit data" screen. (you know, the one that apears after pressing the enter button) Quote So, if you don't start drinking...I'm gonna leave!!!
Paul Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 It's a funny old world, you get a desk, and then don't want to use it, instead everything has to be possible from just the keyboard and monitor... Is this some sly subversive attempt to get a fully working desk with just a Frog Box, Monitor and Keyboard? This one goes a bit deeper than just making things appear on the external monitor. The monitor is mostly a rearranged mimic of what's on the LCD on the desk. In the Edit Live/Blind windows (monitor and LCD), channel values can be edited with the cursors and numeric keypad. Not so with fixture data, as this opens up all sorts of complex issues to do with display and editing of 16-bit values, palettes, FROG function etc. The Frog desks are designed so that fixture data is edited only from the wheels and associated buttons. If it appears in the Edit windows, then really it has to be editable there too. Imagine a fully loaded Mambo Frog (96 fixtures), the Edit window would become enormous and unusable with perhaps 1024 control channels to look at. The fixtures LCD and associated controls are the best way to navigate this data. Quote
Morn Posted April 12, 2005 Author Report Posted April 12, 2005 Imagine you have a fully loaded Bull Frog and have to edit each of the 96 generics via this tiny 4 line main LCD display. Sounds like fun:-) Even though I'm just operating a Fat Frog I use 99% of the time the Monitor instead of the main LCD. Even if the Monitor would brake I would rather take my private PC Monitor to work, than just using LCD. I think the main problem is, that the main LCD is much to small. Maybe you can fix this in the next software update. So if mapping the fixtures is to much, maybe only the primary fixture could be mapped without editing capabilities via keyboard....or just the HTP values? P.S.: We'll still prefer using the desk instead of the Frog Box...a large desk with a lotsa faders, knobs and lights is much more impressive on girls than a 5 buttoned box and PC keyboard. *ggg* Quote So, if you don't start drinking...I'm gonna leave!!!
