ice Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I wonder how many operators really use the FROG function. I only use it when I'm really, really lazy that night  Quote > 500 posts, time for a new T-shirt?
Kirkup_xp Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Frog is much more useful if you use the Frog screen to set limits. If you limit colour between 0 and 255, on a CMY fixture, and "detag" one of the three channels, you can create a random chase between two colours, which is (IMHO) much more useful than totally random colours. Something for a future update would possibly be a way of setting limits on a per-attribute basis. Quote Peter Kirkup
Paul Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 The FROG function isn't really meant for the show, it's for the inevitable disco afterwards on smaller gigs. It means you can go to the bar, rather than run the disco... As I recall the desks were named Frog before K-Nine came up with the matching FROG acronym for the Auto-chase function. Other suggested names for the desk were Prospero, Super A&E and DX-K. Not so catchy really... It could have been worse, the development name for the Illusion desk was George... Quote
Paul Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Just dug out some of the other suggested acronyms for the FROG function... Channel Randomise On Attribute Keys Supply Parameter Attributes With Noise Pseudo Random Output Sequence Preferably Excluding Reset Operands For Absolute Terror - Frightening Random Outputs Guaranteed Quite Unusual Effects Engine Really Lighting Effect Generation System Bash Random Attributes In Nauseating Succession Random Attribute Value Effect Make Interesting Swirley Shapes Prompting Instant Great Gig Yells Keep Expecting Random Mayhem If Touched Create With Moving Bulbs Random Anarchic Nausea Quote
K-Nine Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 I think Paul must have spent most of the weekend thinking those up The desks were called Frogs before I renamed the "Auto-Chase" function to the FROG function There were various other working names before Graham decided on the names Frog and Fat Frog.
