Spam posting

There seems to be an increasing amount of spam post appearing on the site.

 

A lot of forums will approve a members first post before it goes live - can this not be done here?

The issue here is that the "admins" @DMH and @RJP don't actually log in to the forum, respond to DMs or deal with reports. DMH hasn't logged on since December, RJP logged in a week ago but only after I mailed support about the last batch of spam.

As to the crazy concept of them actually responding to posts... Well, so far there is no evidence of that.

I’ve been reporting the spam posts/users as soon as I see them. I don’t know if the corresponding report emails are being seen or triggering the cleanup action. From what @Davidmk is saying, possibly not!

For the record the spam has been dealt with, presumably by @RJP who logged on shortly after I mailed support.

I've also been replying and tagging both admins to a number of spam posts and the next time I've looked the posts have been removed - thank you @RJP @DMH

As I type there are 11 spam posts which need removing - maybe there could be a new group of "superusers" for those like us who are experienced and active in supporting the community and the forum who can provide "moderation" of posts?

I agree and would be happy to do this. I’m similarly a ‘mod’ on other community forums essentially in a capacity of spam removal in the European time zone. This forum may be different as it’s commercial, but the offer is still there.

I sent an email to the Forum admins about 7 minutes after the last spam appeared but it was only removed 17 hours later. I agree with the 'superuser' idea for spam removal. I used to do this for another forum I belonged to.
