The update doubles the capacity of Vari-Lite’s FLX S Series consoles, removing the need for paid universe upgrades, and further increases the integration between Vari-Lite’s FLX S consoles and new RigSwitch+ power platform. Quote We’re witnessing our users demand more and more of their trusty FLX S consoles, including the number of fixtures they wish to control along with the increasing feature counts of fixtures such as the new VL600 Acclaim+. Therefore, we’ve spent considerable time reengineering ZerOS so we better utilise the powerful FLX S hardware to comfortably support significantly larger showfiles. We’re delighted to offer this for free to all our tens of thousands of FLX S users. - Jon Hole, Global Product Manager, Vari-Lite Systems and Control With ZerOS 8, FLX S24 & FLX S48 now support 96 & 192 fixtures respectively, both now across 2,048 DMX channels (equivalent to 4 full DMX universes). Not content with doubling the fixture count and channel license, ZerOS 8 also doubles the number of playbacks, groups and palettes available on all FLX S consoles. The full size FLX and ZerOS Server also receives an upgrade to 4,096 channels (equivalent to 8 full DMX universes). Not being a FLX S user its good to see these desks also get a big capability upgrade by doubling the fixture count - a FLX S 48 may almost become a legitimate option as a 'show week' backup desk for my FLX now. It's also good to read Vari-Lite's ongoing support for the FLX S and integration between RigSwitch and other Vari-Lite fixtures (although not been shouted about on your news page yet! 😉 https://www.vari-lite.com/global/news#page=1). Here's hoping the support is long lasting for this very valuable control surface and OS! Noting the cut off for ongoing support for the 'legacy' ZerOS consoles with the release of V8 & V7.14.4, are you able to share any insight in the development roadmap for ZerOS going forwards? It must be a lot simpler with only the FLX range to consider within your future software updates now? Or if nothing official - what would be your top three wishes be for ZerOS's next feature set?!
