ZerOS 7.14.3 Released and ZerOS 7.15 Coming Soon!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

For various reasons I have not yet passed from 7.13 to 7.14 ...
And there, I will chain a lot of shows and maybe avoid going to 7.14, to avoid having concerns ...

In any case, this is good news on the 7.15, with bugs and equalness, universes' extentions (4 for FLX's and 8 for FLX.)

I look forward to being able to have all this evolve, even if for the moment I sail on 3 universes. Maybe 4, if the evolutions of the machines ask me for more addresses than the three universes allow ...

Thank you very much to variety technicians ...

Eric from France

Note to Z88 folks ( @Edward Z88, @Jon Hole ) and other active members:

It seems on other forums, misinformation is being spread that suggests or states (incorrectly) that all FLX - including FLX S- production has been stopped. Prospective buyers are being dissuaded from FLX S series consoles because they are "discontinued".

I'm rebuffing this where I can, including a link to Jon's original statement at the top of this thread. Please be aware of this misinformation being propagated and do your bit to correct the statements where required.

Kevin - thanks very much for letting us know. It seems no matter how clear you try to make something, people will still get the wrong end of the stick!

If there is a particular thread you have found that you think it would be helpful for me to jump in, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll just keep a watchful eye out.

Thanks again.

Recent example. The respondent has replied to my post quoting a Vari-lite page but still hasn't recognised in respect of the OP being suggested an "FLX-24" that FLX-S range is NOT discontinued as he continues to assert ambiguously. What's worse is kitlane is a UK operator and posts on Blue Room too.

To be frank this is partly down to Zero88 continuing to use unclear/subtly similar product names for quite different products. (I won't mention "Leap Frog"!).

Thanks Kevin - your reply is really clear, so not much more I can add really. Your time is much appreciated on this.

This is a fair comment - customers will occasionally say they have a "FLX", when they mean "FLX S24", so we just have to be mindful to not then tell them how to do something via syntax strings!

Thanks Kevin.

We've updated the discontinued FLX page to say "Full size" and to link to the two current FLX S consoles.

Agreed. Whilst I stand by our choice of name for "FLX S" (we wanted to build a family), what wasn't so wise in hindsight was not foreseeing a family of consoles back when the full sized FLX launched - we should have added a suffix to the end of the full sized FLX.

We now have a much more robust naming scheme for whatever the future may bring ("FLX" or "Neo" for the family, "S" and "X" for the generation/platform, and "24", "48", "5", "15" or "Server" for the variant).

I think it's perfectly clear that "Leap Frog" and "Leapfrog 48" were COMPLETELY different desks, but "Leapfrog 48" and "Solution" were identical. Don't know what you're talking about 😇

Good morning,

Having a lot of shows that follow one behind the other, it seems difficult to me to update from 7.13 to 7.14.3, given that the shows in question all have a limited time to resolve software issues.. .
I know on version 7.13 what I must not do to avoid blockages... For new performance, I keep all the settings and Fixtures & just delete Playlits and that way I am quickly operational.

But I'm excited to be able to upgrade to 7.14.3 and especially while waiting for 7.15, hoping that this new version will provide, in addition to stability, good operation!

To be continued and looking forward to reading you all to see how version 7.14.3 is going...

A good end of the day to all,

Eric

Greeting from germany.

Im currently using the Solution desk and was looking to upgrade because the desk has become really laggy and some faders have position issiues where they report values that are not actually input, like reporting a dmx value of 15 but are physikly at he bottom. (this is all quite understadable because of the age of the desk)

The question I now have is, will the FLX S consoles get syntax support?

Because the Solution desks supported, at least some kind of syntax (idk if its the same as FLX) i grew quit used to having acces to that feature.

That is also the reason i looked at the FLS console as the nex upgrade, but as its discontinued now, that obv issnt an option, so it would be nice if FLX S would gain the capabilitys of Syntax. (I just watched the 7.10 video where it is mentioned that you cant control individual pixels of non linear lights without syntax for example)

Looking forward to the new features of 8.0 and if they will give me enough reason to upgrade.

We've all been quietly thinking the same! Some ballpark timescale would be useful so folk can plan, but I guess at the moment with changes to the team, I'm happy to cut Jon some significant slack!

I guess we're all quite interested in the channel count upgrade which I suspect is a very minor change to the config of the software, but probably other new features are being rolled in too which requires development and testing effort which has been impacted recently.

Yes - I agree - some sort of timeline would be nice guys - even if it's to say "We're still 6 months away" would give us some guidance - with panto season coming up if we can start plotting or we wait for the upgrade. I have a Solution and an FLX S so really could do with the extra universe on the FLX...

Thanks.

I was at PLASA on Monday. I went hoping there'd be a Z88 announcement to discuss (a replacement for the FLX for example).

Previously I'd have stopped for a chat anyway but, although VariLite weren't busy, I didn't have time after waiting to talk to Chamsys, Infinity, Vista and Lightshark about their offerings in my price bracket.

Did linger over the Sirius in the "archaeology" display though. 😊

Ah that’s a shame - I must have missed you. I was there all day Monday too in a personal capacity.

I'd hope by the end of September we'd have a beta for you. However, the roadmap has changed a little bit to enable us to fix some high priority bugs. Instead of being "ZerOS 7.15", this will now be:

  • ZerOS 7.14.4 will be a bug fix release for all consoles
  • ZerOS 8 will be for FLX & FLX S only, and will include the free of charge capacity increases

We see these two releases being very close together - it's even possible (not guaranteed) that ZerOS 8 starts testing before ZerOS 7.14.4 is released. We're doing this to split the bug fixes across all consoles, and the new features / increased capacity on FLX & FLX S.

Bonjour,

How can I get access? xD

Hi Charlie - sorry for my earlier flippancy!

You could email support@zero88.com and ask.

There are ‘rules’ for beta testers about console experience, feedback and forum activity. This is because Zero88 don’t want to grant beta access to casual users or inexperienced users who can’t effectively engage in the beta testing process and could otherwise become a support burden.

You're a relatively new user - and of course very welcome - but you might have to argue your case so early on to get beta access unless you’re otherwise an established customer known to Zero88 folk.

Hope that’s more helpful!
