  1. Hi Paul, This is what I did before posting, I was kinda hoping there was some trick in creating the fixture profile that would allow me to do this without having all my other fixtures fading on other LTP channels. I guess its just another limitation of the Diablo. I can see why it was discontinued so early in its life. I have had mine for 4 years now, and know the limits very well. For most small club shows its fine, but I am at the point now where I want to do more and can't. The problem is that there isn't anything else on the market that is cheap enough and powerful enough for what I want. Maybe USB-DMX is the way forward, using the Diablo as a wing? Steve
  2. Hi there, I have just created a fixture profile for the LEDJ Colour Burst. Its simply Red, Greed, Blue and Dimmer/Shutter. This works, apart from the colours always snap, they don't fade unless you set the entire console to fade on other LTP channels. Is there a way to set parameters to fade by default, or is it just pan and tilt that fade? Cheers, Steve
  3. Excellent, I will pop to ebay and set one up, thanks for your help! Steve
  4. Hi there, I really like my Diablo, but it would be nice to be able to store more than one show at a time on the memory card. I know Zero 88 don't have any in stock anymore, so I was wondering if anyone else has any kicking around? I know the Diablo was rebranded for another manufacturer, but I can't remember which one and what they called the desk. Maybe they have there own memory cards in stock, or know a supplier who can help? Any help here would be great! Cheers, Steve www.dooza.tv
  5. I think I understand what your saying. I have a gig this weekend so will have a go at getting my head around it. Steve
  6. I am having problems using the movement effect. I have created a memory with 4 fixtures and a circular movement. I have also created a static memory where the 4 fixtures have a set position. When I trigger the memory with the movement it moves, but when I trigger the static position the movement effect continues. The only way to stop it is to go into the movement effect and turn it off. Could someone explain how to use movement effects correctly? Cheers! Steve
  7. Lowering the fader removes the brightness (HTP) contribution to the output. It does not un-trigger the attribute (LTP) channels. Ahh, I see, none of my fixtures have the brightness channel, thats why i dont see this working. You need to create a blackout memory. That makes sense. If you edited the fixture profile so that what the desk thought was the brightness channel, was actually shutter or something like that on the actual fixture, then it would be mixed HTP rather than LTP and hence would respond to blackout. Depending on what you're doing, the tradeoff of HTP mixing against easier blackout may or may not work for you. What would happen if I did this? The joystick has a proportional response, so the further you move it away from the sprung centre, the faster your fixtures move. The maximum speed is fixed so that the response feels right for moving head fixtures. Since mirrors can move much faster, it can feel slower than what you're used to. The faders only work for pan/tilt in program mode, since in Live! mode, they're used to control the sequence. Ahh, I see. I take it there is no way to adjust the soeed of the response? Maybe this would could be a new feature? I dont know how it all works, but if it could then I will suggest it. Thanks for all your help. Steve www.dooza.tv
  8. Hi Paul, So if I didnt have a movement effect on a memory, I would be able to move the fader to zero to remove the memory, like it says in the manual? I have a few other questions too. The lights I am using don't have dimmer channels, so they dont blackout when using the blackout command, or by setting a solo aux button. Is there a way to make them blackout? I could always create a blackout memory, but thinking about editing the fixture profile. For instance on the Martin 812 could I use the gobo channel? When using LIVE! the joystick controls the pan and tilt, but the pan and tilt faders are not active, instead the speed and fade control work. Is this normal? The joystick seems to slowly move the pan and tilt, unlike the faders which allow you to move them quickly. Am I limited to only being able to use this when programming a memory? Cheers, Steve www.dooza.tv
  9. In the Diablo Manual, section 5.2, its says a memory will continue outputting until either the channel level is changed by another memory or until the fader associated with the memory is moved to zero. On mine it doesnt appear to behave this way. When I raise a fader for a memory with a movement effect on it, it continues even if I move the fader back down. I also note that the red led does not come on. Is this normal, or have I dont something wrong? Steve
  10. Thanks again Paul. I really think I need to get my hands on one to try out all these exciting features. I am going to buy an ex-demo one from AC Lighting, so will have a play first. They are around the corner from where I live in Wycombe, so its nice and close. If I think of any other questions I will be back. Take care, Steve www.dooza.tv
  11. Hi Paul, You have answered all my questions perfectly. Now for some more Can a memory contain a movement effect for fixtures 1 and 3 and another movement effect for fixtures 2 and 4? Lets say I wanted to have the 1 and 3 moving in one direction, and 2 and 4 in the opposite direction, could these be stored on the one submaster? Is it possible to make a wave effect? So instead of the scans all moving up and down, could they be offset, so that the first one moves up, then the second one moves up, then the third, and so on, just like a wave? I think I read somewhere, maybe one of these posts, that to focus a movement effect, you position them first. If a movement effect submaster was up and running, if you then chose LIVE! and picked those fixtures, would moving the joystick override the effect and stop the movement, or would it change the focus of the movement? Thats it for now, but I am sure I will come up with some more questions Thanks again! Steve www.dooza.tv
  12. Hi Paul, Thank you for clearing that up for me. I am just about getting my head around what this can and cant do. I am I right in thinking that once you have a sequence running, say a movement only chase, I could then use a memory fader to bring up the colour? Could I also bring up a memory that has a movement effect that is on other fixtures? Is there a limit to the number of memories running with effects? To run a sequence, you select the page, then bring up the master fader. To change the sequence running, do you have to bring the master fader down, select a new sequence, and then bring it up again? What happens if you press the page up/down mid sequence? Does it try to start the each new sequence as you step thru it? Is this why there is the global chase? So you can store the sequence page running, and the way it is running? Do the memories running with an effect get affected by changing the global chase? So many questions, I really must try one out for myself Thanks for the help so far! Steve www.dooza.tv
  13. I am trying to work out exactly what the Fan Effect does on the Diablo. In the manual it says you chose the channel then the fixtures, and you use the faders to control the levels of that channel on each fixture. Does it then cycle this, or is it static? It doesnt say in the manual, but sounds like you are just effectively changing the same parameter on different fixtures at the same time. Is this just a time saving feature? Is it the same as selecting a feature, adjusting the parameter, then selecting another fixture and adjusting the same parameter but to a different level? I was hoping it would cycle thru them, making a colour chase or even a shutter chase. I was planning on using 4 strobes thru a dmx to 10v converter, and then using a memory with a fan effect to trigger them one after each other. I guess the only way to do this would be to have a page of memories, and each memory with a different strobe being triggered, then using a page chase to get them running. The only problem with this would the speed. I would have to have it running very quickly. But then other page chases running would also be at the same speed. Thats not good. Maybe a global chase could be used for this? Steve www.dooza.tv
  14. Hi Paul, I thought the manual implied that you can have more than one sequence running at a time, but looking back it doesn't. I will have to stick to page chases if I want to layer chases. Thats a shame, could I make a feature request so that it does? Excellent, I will search the library for the ones I need. Thanks for the help. Steve www.dooza.tv
  15. Hi there, I am thinking about getting a Diablo. I like the features, but would like someone to clarify something for me about the Global Chase. In the manual it states the following: The current state of all 12 pages and page ripplesThe current sequence page The sequence speed, direction and sound on/off settings Does this remember the actual sequences that are running? Does it remember the step of a manual sequence? What would be great is if it also remembered any selected memories, especially those with effects running on them. Just like an envirnoment on a Masterpiece. I cant find any downloadable fixtures on the website. In particular I am after any Abstract lights, and the Martin 812. Any help would be great. Cheers, Steve www.dooza.tv
