I would have thought in this scenario the GUI should have presented the current value.

Added a comment to ZOS-8756 which is related to various updates to the Edit DMX Address window... but it won't be for ZerOS 7.14, sorry.

the numeric dialogue box doesn't present the existing value. The number field is blank. After a bit I realised just pressing Enter kept the existing DMX address, but that box should really be showing that number (with the usual convention of having it selected for overtyping) rather than presenting a blank box.

This is deliberately blank to indicate that the DMX Start Address is not going to be changed unless you enter a number (for situations like you describe, where you want to change the universe but not the start address).

We can think about if we can make this more clear. Maybe if all the selected fixtures are addressed sequentially, in order, with no gaps, we could show the address (as in this scenario there would be no difference if we did or didn't renumber them), but all other situations they remain blank.

Same for the universe number - the numeric box should be prefilled with the exiting number, not blank.

This is pre-populated and selected for me - not for you? Actually, I'd say this is "wrong" currently, as if I select two fixtures on two different universes, I'm only shown the first universe number.

OK, thanks, I'll look into this.

Our domain wizards have made a few more changes... seems to have fixed things. Would be interested to know if you can edit your posts now?

  4. What have we been working on? Unsurprisingly... ZerOS 7.14.

We’ve had a two year period of massive updates - five software releases which have introduced the all-new ZerOS Library, built in Fixture Creator & Editor, improved Fixture Search & Fixture Filtering, GDTF support, multicell support, multiple colour emitter support, colour temperature control, referencing colour filters and support for KiNet, Vision.Net & Philips Hue. There have also been improvements such as Move-on-Dark per cue, Phantom ZerOS improvements, Move functionality, increase / decrease syntax and tweaks to how Home works.

Therefore, ZerOS 7.14 is a “spring clean”, focused on simplicity, consistency, performance and stability. There will be over 130 improvements and enhancements. However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be new features. Expect to see OSC (Open Sound Control), DMX and Vision.Net input (over RS485) and a new Fixture Macros interface.

No timeframe for release yet, but we hope to start beta testing within the next month. If you’re not part of our beta test group, and would like to be, do drop us an email!

We’re also excited to announce that this will be the last significant release of ZerOS 7. The next major release of ZerOS will be ZerOS 8 (but more on that another day…).

if editing a post, very quickly it says ‘this post can’t be edited, too much time has elapsed’ (or something along those lines) - when I’ve only just posted within the last minute the initial response!

OK, thanks, I'll look into this. Editing time is set to "unlimited" for all registered users, so not sure why that would be.

  6. So, to hopefully close-off this thread, it's been a week and we've not seen or heard of any further technical issues on the forum. Therefore, we believe this is fully fixed and "closing the issue". However, if you do find any further issues, please do highlight them to us... don't assume we already know about them.

  7. Move on Dark affects any non-intensity parameter, not just position. So for an example, an LED fixture has a colour, even if the intensity is off. When you turn that LED back on, you want it to be in the correct colour so you don’t see it change - so it’s “moves” on dark.

  8. If you mean deleted the fixture, and then repatched it, then yes - that would work.

If you simply removed the DMX address from it, and then added a DMX address again, no - the data would still be intact.

Forum is still pretty messed up. I can post on occasion then immediately after I can’t edit or post again.

Sorry we're still having issues - we're trying to work out what's going on but currently we can't find the pattern. Out of interest, do you have the same problems if you use "Incognito" / "InPrivate" / whatever your browser calls it!

  10. If you have used palettes, this is where referencing palettes is your solution - just update your palettes.

Invert is used when you want one half of your rig to do the “opposite” of the other - so 0 becomes full and full becomes 0.

You don’t want to do this. You need to “rotate” the fixtures by essentially adding 180 degrees to every value - there’s no software feature to achieve this.

Interestingly, we were discussing this internally just last week. The issue is that, depending on the fixture, you risk hitting the pan “stop” and hence can’t achieve what you programmed.

I just wondered if you have put some software-limitations into the Solution software, like on the FLX S range.

There are some features that won't make it to Solution - but we try to keep those to a minimum. For example, most recently we couldn't bring Philips Hue support to Solution. We no longer update documentation for Solution, but we do note all of these in the release notes - so you would need to read through each of those for the "full picture".

We also made the decision a year or so ago that we would "stop supporting" Solution being used without a touchscreen (or alternatively a monitor and mouse together). Whilst most things are still accessible without using anything other than the console itself, it started becoming too complicated to design modern interfaces whilst still supporting Solution front panel hardware without a touchscreen.

  12. The capabilities of Solution are detailed on the webpage, and the datasheets towards the bottom of the page: https://www.zero88.com/control/solution

    The key things are:

    • 248 fixtures. These are numbered 1-48 (assigned to the 48 faders) and 101-300 (assigned to the 20 Multi-Function Keys ("MFKs") across 10 pages). They can all be anything - there's no limitation of the faders only being dimmers.
    • 400 of each palette type / groups / macros
    • 201 playbacks (10 faders, 20 pages, plus the "Master Playback")
    • 2048 DMX channels (4 "full universes", but can be spread across 64 universes).
