  1.

We found two bugs that were affecting a small number of consoles and so we've released a ZerOS 7.14.2 to fix this. We recommend everyone updates. There should be no show file compatibility issues (forward or backwards) between 7.14.1 and 7.14.2.

like a grandmaster that only applies to certain channels. I don't think you can use it to both reduce and increase intensities.

This is exactly right. Your suggestion of two playbacks is the only way I can think of doing this too - because the behaviour needs to change based on the status of Ch 1&2, making LTP not suitable.

  3. We’re excited to announce the availability of Neo 4.1.1, a new software release recommended for all consoles, servers and PCs running Neo software.

The update includes over a hundred enhancements to the user experience, including updates to CUE UNDO, improved media playback capabilities in Matrix effects, and more.

Please see the Neo 4.1.1 Release Notes for full details.

can I make the playback to fade out the dimmer channels when I release the GO button?

Currently, there's no native way to do this via a flash button. It has been requested before and is logged (reference ZOS-3202) - I've added your comment as an additional request. If you only want to flash (not press-and-hold), you could create two cues - first one snaps on, second one fades out, and then set the second cue to Auto follow. Now, pressing the GO button will snap the light on, then fade it back out. You will need the physical fader to be at full to make this work.

BTW: Is there a more detailed manual for ZerOS as that shipped for FLX S24? (so that I can look those things up in the manual instead of spaming the forum ;-))

Yes, our online manual is here: https://www.zero88.com/manuals/zeros?filter=1

  5. You're completely correct, apologies (this is why I should leave support to @Edward Z88!)

Delete that Inhibitor Playback, and we'll do it a different way:

    • Take the relevant channels to 0% in the programmer (so they are red "0"s)
    • Press-and-hold RECORD until you see the Record Window appear on the internal screen
    • Turn off "Smart Tag" (so there isn't a red strip on the left hand side of the button)
    • Press the flashing button of the Playback you want to record onto
    • Hold SETUP & Press the GO button of that Playback
    • Change "Intensity Mixing" to "Latest Takes Precedence" and click "OK"

Now, the flash button of that Playback should take those channels to 0%.

  6. We're currently working on a proposal that ties into this conversation - so this feels like a good opportunity to receive your feedback.

Currently we have two save methods:

    • SETUP>Save - as discussed above (which allows you to save a new file with a new filename)
    • "Quick Save" - which saves a new file with the current filename and the next incremental numerical suffix (e.g. "showfile2.zos", "showfile3.zos", etc)

The proposal is for a show file to include multiple "versions". So "Quick Save" updates the current show file (instead of making a new one), but as a new version. On your USB stick, there would be a single show file. "Loading" the file would automatically load the latest version, making it seamless. However, a new "Versioning" interface would display all past versions (including timestamps if on FLX) so you could "go back in time" to load a previous version if required.

(Note: out of scope of this proposal is partial show file loading where, for example, you take a single cue from a show file (or, in this situation, "version") and load it into another show file / version)

  7. Dear All,

We’re excited to announce the availability of ZerOS 7.14.1, a new update for consoles and servers running the ZerOS Operating System.

    New software features include:

    • Move On Dark now follows "Next" cue jumps.
    • The Grand Master can now behave as an additional playback
    • Playbacks can be prevented from looping.
    • Clear Fixture is now available on all consoles.
    • + 51 other enhancements and bug fixes

Please see the ZerOS 7.14.1 Release Notes for full details.

The ZerOS Online Manual has been updated to reflect these changes.

  8. Also worth noting that ZerOS uses "virtual NICs" (NIC = "network interface card") rather than needing multiple ethernet ports - so the single Ethernet port can have multiple IP addresses on multiple Subnets. ZerOS generally associates the IP settings to each protocol/feature, rather than to each physical NIC.

  9. Hi Ross,

If the Enter key no longer selects <OK>, it suggests something might have become unconnected / changed when you opened up the console to replace the battery.

Give Keith a call on +44 (0)1633 833101 whilst you're in front of the console - he'll be able to walk you through various checks.

Your suggestion would be covered by the "Improve effects engine" option.

Where there's a specific feature within the category, like Effect Speed BPM, it's worth voting but also posting a comment, so we capture them all in a single location when reviewing the list.

  11. We moved the "Delete Fixture" function to Setup > Set Channel # in ZerOS 7.14 (Release Notes here - see "ZOS-11043"). We wanted clarity between "Delete" and "Unpatch" (and going into "Edit DMX Address" to delete a fixture didn't make much sense).

Also, much more easily, it's possible to select the fixtures whilst in the Fixture Schedule (using the channel buttons) and press "Delete".

    file date is: 09.03.2018

I’ll need to look at this on Monday, as I thought it should be 1 January 1970 - but it might be you’re operating system knowing that can’t be true.

The filtering remains when using the search.

So does that mean FLX S users need to set date and time whenever the desk is turned on?

No, the setting doesn’t exist on FLX S
