  1. Hi Jan, There's various options available, depending what you want to achieve. The two we mainly use are MIDI Show Control (MSC) and MIDI Timecode (MTC). MSC allows a central device (often a computer) to send a message along the lines of "go cue 5". This allows you to sync multiple cues together - for example sound, lighting and video. On FLX, go into SETUP > Inputs & Outputs and enable "MIDI Show Control". Once enabled, you can also select a "Device ID" which is used to send messages to a specific device when there are multiple devices on the MIDI network. MTC allows a device to send out a time, in hours, minutes, seconds and frames (usually starting at 0h:0m:0s:0f), to multiple devices, so they can trigger cues based on the time. For example, during a song there maybe dozens of cues - so if there's a timecode linked in with the backing track, the lighting console can be programmed to automatically trigger cues at very specific timings linked directly with the music. On FLX, go into SETUP > Inputs & Outputs and enable "MIDI Timecode". You'll need to select which frame rate is being sent to the console - 24FPS, 25FPS or 30FPS.
  2. Labby is a software beta tester, who I believe might be running beta software. As there's been no reply regarding which software version is being run I'm closing this thread - beta feedback must be kept within the beta test forum, However, if this isn't the case, just drop me a PM and I'll reopen the thread.
  3. Operating them as four separate fixtures is definitely what we would suggest here. If you are in tracking mode, and "Smart Tag" is disabled (an option within the record window), you should get the option to "merge" as well as overwrite. This would be your best option. Jon
  4. We released 7.9 relatively slowly - online first, then publicised on social media, and then publicised through newsletters etc. Both of the download sites (x86 and ARM) have a note that says: (ORB, ORB XF and SCD Server Pro users can now choose to run this FLX software too. Download the software below, and follow the instructions within the release notes). So, in short, it's released for FLX, and it's still in beta for ORB XF.
  5. Yep - I think it's more obvious if we separate it out into two individual cells though :-)
  6. Hi, We decided to lay it out as it is currently, as you can then have your groups window on the internal monitor and get access to all 5 windows at the same time.
  7. Hi Lufferov, As Kevin says you can use a forward slash (which is easy IF you have an external keyboard, or use a showfile loaded from Phantom FLX). I've added an issue to make this easier - ZOS-7310 - thanks for pointing it out :-) There is a specification written to greatly increase the functionality of the copy window. Untill then, select the fixture you like, go to "beamshape" (or any other palette window), press RECORD, choose "selected fixtures" and "all parameters" in the Record Window, and then select an empty palette. Now you can choose the other fixtures, and press that palette. It's only chases you need to put into other playbacks. Effects can be recorded directly into a cue. We're looking into making effects more capable (so you need to use chases less often), and chases simpler to add into cues - so between these two, hopefully it'll make this even easier! Strange... I've never seen this (and use goto cue very often!). Do you have a showfile you can email me so I can take a look if there's anything which might cause this. Please keep the feedback coming!
  8. Hi Simon, Can you email me the showfile, I'll take a look.
  9. There will always be a way for users to create their own profiles. Eventually I'd like to get it on the console themselves (and via Phantom if working on a laptop).
  10. Hi Jonathan, To remove a fixture (from within the <Assign FIxtures> menu), highlight it and then press and hold the CLEAR button. To unaddress something (so you can use that DMX address somewhere else), go into the <DMX Patch> menu, select the channel and then just tap the clear button. Jon
  11. Hi Jonathan, If you upload (or email me) the profile you've made, we can take a look at it for you! Jon
  12. Hi Alg, You're correct - you can only "live edit" cues, not subs. Jon
  13. Hi Jay, They are already in the library - have you updated your console? zero88.com/software/library
  14. We'll be improving our support for this fixture in ZerOS 8.0 later this year.
  15. Which console? New software has been released for FLX and ORB XF
  16. Hi charliez, Sorry you had this problem, and sorry for the delay in replying to you! Hopefully this is all sorted now, but if you have any future issues like this, contact Keith in the service department and we'll get it sorted :-) Jon
  17. ZerOS 8 will solve your problem, which is the multiple segments for colour mixing (or multiple intensities, or multiple pan/tilts, or multiple anythings!). However, I don't think that's the problem described above, which is about copying and pasting channel details from one channel to another in the Fixture Type Editor. Currently you need to do each channel individually. We're not changing how our Editor works currently, as we'll soon be outsourcing this to a 3rd Party company - and they'll solve all these problems for us!
  18. Yep, inhibitive playbacks solves this problem. ZerOS 7.9 has now been released, so FLX and ORB XF users can give this a go! ZerOS 7.9.1 will be available to test shortly, bringing these features to Solution and FROG2 too.
  19. The technical reason is that pressing a colour palette ends the command (signified by the comma at the end). Therefor, the copy syntax typed afterwards is invalid. There's a plan to allow you to move palettes with drag-and-drop, which will make that even easier. This is working in ZerOS 7.9

    FLX "presets"

(Side Note: We're looking at implementing "looks" soon, which will be what you described. That will probably replace the functionality Tyler's described above).
  21. Current time frame is end of the year... we've made some significant UI changes since the images above
  22. Hi Andreas, We're about to start beta testing 7.8.1, which brings the FLX software over to Solution and FROG2. I think this should solve your problem too. Would you mind giving it a go in a week or two? If so, can you email me on the address below, and when we're ready, I'll let you know. All the best, Jon
  23. Hi HugoPilot, You can use DMX to either control individual channels (generics only, not the moving lights) or to control the Submasters (allowing you to record whatever you want onto the submasters, including whole scenes of generics and moving lights / LEDs) If you go into SETUP (SHIFT+MODE), and scroll all the way down to <DMX Input Setup>, you should see it says <Snapshot> (with the triangular brackets highlighted in white). Press ENTER, which will highlight the whole word, and then use the up and down arrow keys to select either <Chans+Subs> or just <Subs only>. Press ENTER again, go down to <OK>, press ENTER, and then hold the MODE button to exit SETUP. Hope this helps, Jon
  24. Hi Matthew, Have you enabled MIDI Show Control (MSC)? You do this in SETUP > Desk Setup > Inputs > MIDI Show Control MSC works on Cue Stack 1, you can then use this Cue Stack to trigger other cue stacks. The last thing to ask is what device/cable are you using to output MIDI from the Mac? We’ve seen lots of problems with customers using cheaper cables, like these: http://www.arvydas.co.uk/2013/07/cheap-usb-midi-cable-some-self-assembly-may-be-required/
  25. Hi Hamish, Yes, it looks like Multiplay doesn't support MIDI Show Control, which is a shame as this is exactly how you should be doing what you're planning. Do you have access to a Mac? A lot of people run QLab, which works brilliantly. I'm not aware of any decent PC software that can trigger MIDI Show Control, but I'm sure there's some that exists! All the best, Jon
