  1. Hi, You will need to connect a sound source to the audio input on the back panel of the desk. Then program a chase memory and set the Drive modifier to Bass. When you output the memory, the bass beat of the music will trigger each step of the chase.
  2. I've not heard of "Acme Mighty Spot" - is that it's real name  If you tell me the actual name of the fixture (Manufacturer and Fixture Type) I will check the fixture library and see if we have the personality file for it. If not, one will have to be created. If you have the DMX channel data for the fixture you can create the fixture type file yourself using the Fixture Type Editor (available from the Zero 88 website) or if you send me the data I can create the fixture file for you. Regards, K-Nine.
  3. The latest version of software for the Frog series of desks (Version 8.1) can be downloaded from the Zero 88 website ... CLICK HERE. Live adjustment of chase speed is one of the improvements we intend to put in the next features update package.
  4. The functionality for SMPTE and MIDI implemented on the Illusion 120 is using the time code to trigger memories on the memory stack (see operating manual Issue 2 pages 5-19 and 5-20) There are various types of memory in the desk itself, but these are not user-configurable.
  5. Do you mean memories which have been transferred onto submasters ? Are you operating in full or partial mode ? In either case the above things should not happen, but adding a fixture to the setup after programming memories and submasters will have some effect on the memory and submaster data. Depending on the operating mode of the desk, additional fixture data may be added into existing memories/submasters at it's default values and a brightness of zero. If there is a problem with the flash memory or the memory chips are not seated properly this may be a possibility. When you save the show to floppy disk, all the memory, submaster, palette and desk setup information is stored in the show file.
  6. Hi, I have just checked the specification and manual for the Mambo FRog. What it should say in the manual is that the maximum memory storage capacity is equivalent to 400 full scene memories. This means that if you have assigned fixtures which use all 1024 channels then you can program up to 400 scene memories. If however, you only used 512 channels then you could program up to 800 scenes. With fewer channels you can program up to a maximum of 1000 scene memories. Hope this makes it clearer
  7. Locking and Unlocking the Desk Locking and unlocking the desk requires a 4 digit lock code (eg 1234). The default lock code for the desk is 0000. The lock code can be changed in Super User. The submaster flash buttons or external keyboard can be used to enter the 4 digit lock code. Each desk also has its own unique code based on the serial number which will unlock the desk. Contact your dealer or Zero 88 for details. For further information - see Frog Series Operating Manual - Page 7-3.
  8. Probably 8O Any fixture data relating to the fixtures you have removed by unassigning them should be removed from memories, submasters, palettes and SX Buttons (Mambo Frog). Data relating to the other fixtures should not be affected. However unfortunately it isn't... Frog Reference 5495 - Unassigning fixtures should only remove the corresponding fixture data from the programmed memories, submasters, SX buttons and palettes. Data for other fixture types programmed in the show should not be affected.
  9. The Fundamental Differences Between Men and Women NICKNAMES - If Laura, Suzanne, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each other Laura, Suzanne, Kate and Sarah. If Mike, Charlie, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla, Peanut-Head and Scrappy. EATING OUT - When the bill arrives, Mike, Charlie, Dave and John will each throw in £20, even though the total bill is only for £32.50. None of them will have anything smaller, and none will actually admit they want change back. When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators. MONEY - A man will pay £2 for a £1 item he needs. A woman will pay £1 for a £2 item that she doesn't need because it's on sale. BATHROOMS - A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel from M&S. The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337. A man would not be able to identify most of these items. ARGUMENTS - A woman has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument. CATS - Women love cats. Men say they love cats, but when the women aren't looking, men kick cats. FUTURE - A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband. A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife. SUCCESS - A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man. MARRIAGE - A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't. A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change and she does. DRESSING UP - A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the bins, answer the phone, read a book, and get the post. A man will dress up for weddings and funerals. NATURAL - Men wake up just as good looking as they did when they went to bed. Women somehow deteriorate during the night. CHILDREN - A woman knows all about her children. She knows about their dentist appointments, romances, best friends, favourite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams. A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Any married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing. WHAT A WOMAN SAYS: C'mon...This place is a mess. You and I need to clean up this place. Your trousers are on the floor and you'll have no clothes if we don't do the laundry now. WHAT A MAN HEARS: C'MON ... blah, blah, blah ... YOU AND I ... blah, blah blah ... ON THE FLOOR .. blah, blah, blah, NO CLOTHES ... blah, blah, blah ... NOW.
  10. I think that we need to maintain the current user interface for entering the DMX address (using the +/- keys or directly via external keyboard). We could then use the PREVIEW key to bring the output on the corresponding DMX channel to the level of the Grand Master. Frog Reference 5450 - "Live" function in Manual Patch to output on DMX channel.
  11. Apart from the fact that when you are in the Manual Patch screen, the + and - buttons are already used for selecting the DMX address :!: However, if we could find another unused key that would flash the selected dmx address
  12. Unless there is a particular reason for not doing so, I would recommend patching the generic channels 1:1 with the DMX channels, so to check any particular dimmer channel, move the corresponding preset fader on the desk. The control wheels are only used for fixture parameter control on the Frog Series of desks.
  13. A man and a woman were sitting beside each other in the first class section of a plane. The woman sneezed, took out a tissue, gently wiped her nose and then shuddered quite violently for 10 or 15 seconds. The man went back to his reading. A few minutes later, the woman sneezed again, took a tissue, gently wiped her nose and shuddered quite violently as before. The man was becoming more and more curious about the shuddering. A few more minutes passed and the woman sneezed one more time. Again she took a tissue, gently wiped her nose and shuddered violently. The man couldn't restrain his curiosity any longer. He turned to the woman and said, "You've sneezed three times, wiped your nose with a tissue, then shuddered violently! Are you all right?" "I'm sorry if I disturbed you," the woman replied, "I have a rare medical condition and whenever I sneeze, I have an duck." The man was a little embarrassed but even more curious and said, "I've never heard of that before. What are you taking for it ?" The woman looked at him and said ..... : : : : : : : : : : : "Pepper."
  14. The combination of the log scale and tolerance of the crossfade pot itself does make it difficult to get an accurate value from looking at the control itself, I agree :? I believe that the crossfade control generates a value between 0-255 based on its position; therefore there are 256 different fade times which can be selected. It should be possible to display the actual fade time (between 0 and 5 minutes) for each of these values on the monitor screen, assuming they are worked out from a lookup table. I shall have to check, but there may be room on the bottom line of the Playback Status and Information section of the monitor screen to display the crossfade time. Frog Reference No 5449 - Display the Preset crossfade time on the monitor screen - to be reviewed.
  15. As Kirkup-xp said, there is no reason why you can't record values for all your fixtures in each palette, since it is only the selected ones which get output when you output a palette live. I understand that naming the palettes to try and describe all the fixture groups within a palette in 18 characters may be a bit of a challenge though :? Frog Reference 5520 - Increase the number of palettes on the Fat Frog and Leap Frog to 48 (using the Shift Button) to match the Mambo Frog and Bull Frog. Implemented in version 10.8
  16. You should be able to have different chases with different fixtures running from submasters at the same time on a Leap Frog. There are a few points to remember. In Desk Setup - The Program Mode must be set to Partial before programming any of the chases. In Desk Setup - Desk defaults, Sub Data should be set to Generics + Fixtures. In Desk Setup - Desk defaults, LTP Trigger should be On. When you program the chases only those fixtures which you want in the chase must be tagged ie, the yellow LED in fixture selection button is FLASHING. All other fixtures must be untagged (yellow LED in fixture selection button is ON). Note that the brightness parameters of fixtures are always recorded regardless of the tagged state, so any fixtures that you don't want to see in the chase should have their brightness set to zero.
  17. Not silly at all. A perfectly valid comment. It's not unreasonable to want to store all the various bits associated with the desk in the flight case itself, without having to cram them into a small recess and risk damaging anything.
  18. This was a subtle modification that we added into Version 7.5 of the Frog Series software. The popup window and additional key press(es) were removed from the situation when the user programs an empty palette or fixture group, to make programming simpler and quicker. The popup window only appears when you select a programmed palette to allow the user to overwrite or clear it 8)
  19. This thread seems to have taken a 'leap' into the surreal ... are you sure you're not from another planet
  20. A guy walks into a bar with an octopus. He sits the octopus down on a stool and tells everyone in the bar that this is a very talented octopus. "He can play any musical instrument in the world." Everyone in the bar laughs at the man, calling him an idiot. So he says that he will bet £50 to anyone who has an instrument that the octopus can't play. A customer walks up with a guitar and sets it beside the octopus. Immediately the octopus picks up the guitar and starts playing better than Jimi Hendrix. The guitar owner pays up the £50. Another customer walks up with a trumpet. This time the octopus plays the trumpet better than Miles Davis. The trumpet owner coughs up the £50. Then Jim, a Scotsman plonks some bagpipes on the table. The octopus fumbles with the bagpipes for a minute and then backs off with a confused look on its face. "Ha!" the Scot says. "Can ye nae play it ?" The octopus looks up at him and says, "Play it ? I'm going to make love to it as soon as I figure out how to get its pyjamas off".
  21. You cannot patch generic channels and fixtures to the same DMX addresses. If you patched a number of consecutive generic channels to those DMX channels used by the fixture, you could then control the fixture with the preset faders in the 'old fashioned' way, but all the parameters would then be treated as HTP and mixed accordingly. Other fixture related functionality such as partial programming by fixture and attribute, palettes and movement effects can only be achieved using the fixtures section of the desk.
  22. The submaster fader position is only used to control the output level of the HTP channels (generic/dimmer channels and fixture brightness parameters). Any LTP channels that are programmed in the channel data or transferred memory will be triggered when the sub fader reaches the LTP trigger level and then snap or fade to their final values in the channel or memory data. A possible solution - You could try putting the start position of the fly-out on one submaster and the end position on another (it would have to be a scene memory transferred with time to get a smooth LTP transition from position 1 to position 2). Unfortunately the timing could not be controlled by the submaster fader, but then again you can't expect Porsche features on a Fiesta

I thought the function keys on the external keyboard did mimic F1 - F4 on the desk, but apparently not, apart from the hold F1 and F3  I don't see any reason why they shouldn't. Frog Reference No 5448 - Function keys F1-F4 on external keyboard should mimic those on the front panel - to be reviewed.
  24. Do you have the latest version of software in your desk (Version 8.1) ? With the latest software it is possible to program partial memory and submaster data down to attribute level (eg the colour parameters of fixtures 1 - 4, the positions of fixtures 5 - 8 etc.) Providing that there is no overlap between fixtures programmed on different submasters, then it should be possible to playback several submasters at a time independently without them affecting each other.
  25. Which version of the Frog s/w are you running as there was a 'bug' (Frog Reference 5362) relating to the apparent ability to adjust chase speeds live - see THIS TOPIC for further details...
