  1. I must admit I do not know what operations you can perform on a .PDF file. When I've completed a new issue of a manual, I just generate the PDF files for sending to the printers and putting in the downloads section of the websites. If you can work with the PDF file then that's fine For the latest info on the next Frog Updates package CLICK HERE
  2. To change the home value of a fixture parameter (eg shutter), you will need to edit the fixture personality file for the required fixture type. To do this you will need the Fixture Type Editor which is one of the Zero 88 Fixture editing tools. These PC utilities can be downloaded from the Zero 88 website CLICK HERE NOTE: You should edit the fixture personality file and assign your fixtures to the new fixture type BEFORE programming any memories or submasters on the desk.
  3. The current list of items for the next Frog updates package (subject to confirmation) is as follows: Edit Blind mode for memories and submasters. Edit Blind mode for SX buttons (Mambo Frog). N-Shot chases. Additional Beat drive option for chases. Chases start at step 1 when output from submasters. Live adjustment of chase speed and other modifiers on Playback X and submasters. Live adjustment of chase speed and other modifiers on SX buttons (Mambo Frog). Editable HTP and LTP fade times for submasters with channel data. Submaster Name to be displayed on Submasters Screen (LCD). Increase number of pages of submasters to 20. Pan/Tilt swap and reverse functions for fixtures (All except Frog). Palette Locking. [/b]
  4. As soon as it has been designed, implemented, tested, documented and officially released
  5. I think it is possible to export the text from each chapter of the manual from Ventura into individual text or Word files, with or without the markup annotations. I am not sure how useful this would be though as it depends what you intend to do with the text once it has been translated. I remember with some ealier manuals, all the text files were exported individually, translated and then imported back into the Ventura document . It was then a laborious process of going through the entire manual again sorting out the format and layout as the new text took up more room than the original English This was certainly not a very efficient way of translating the manual, and I believe that for some of the later Frog Manuals Franck worked directly with the Ventura documents.
  6. The proposed design is that all chases (1-shot, n-shot and continuous) will start at step 1 when run from the submasters
  7. .. and the Frog Box of course
  8. I have returned The original Frog Series, Mambo Frog and Frog Box manuals are produced using Corel Ventura desk top publishing software. The manuals consist of a main Ventura publication file (.vp) and numerous imported pictures, logos, diagrams, screen dumps etc (stored as separate Corel photo paint, jpg, or gif files). When a new issue of the manual is published the entire document is converted to PDF format (a full uncompressed version for printing, and a compressed version for emailing and downloading from our websites).
  9. Correct, Mr Ice The FROG function (Fixture Random Output Generator), was originally called "Autochase", but was renamed during it's development See Frog Series Manual - pages 7-4 and 7-5 for details.
  10. At present, a fixture can only have a single "Brightness" parameter. In the future, we may look at changing this limitation, but this impacts significantly on the processor loading of the desks, due to the HTP nature of the mixing. Allowing more than one "Brightness" parameter will require changes in both the desk software and the fixture editing utilities which are used to produce the fixture personality files. Frog Reference 5411 - Allow more than one HTP parameter to be defined in Brightness for a fixture.
  11. This is NOT strictly correct 8O The HTP (Brightness) chase continues running but you don't see this if the submaster fader is at zero. The LTP chase (Colour, Beamshape and Position parameters) is stopped when the submaster fader is brouht down to zero (Frog Series Manual page 5-8). However, as far as I remember, any movement effects programmed on the fixtures will keep on running, until the fixture position parameters are told to do something else. This is something we need to look at in the next update. Frog Reference 5422 - Movement Effects and FROG outputs should stop when the submaster fader is brought down to zero
  12. The only implementation of SMPTE/MIDI on the frog series of desks is using the timecode to trigger memories on the memory stack. SMPTE/MIDI inputs are not available on the Frog/Fat Frog desks. However, if you could find a MIDI relay interface, you could use the MIDI signals to trigger a remote switch which could be configured to a GO action or GO to a specific memory, as required.
  13. Hi folks, This is amusing, if not a little silly, but after all it is Christmas, so turn up the sound and enjoy CLICK HERE
  14. If you still believe in Santa ... DON'T READ THIS ... There are approximately two billion children (persons under 18 ) in the world. However, since Santa does not visit children of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Buddhist (except maybe in Japan) religions, this reduces the workload for Christmas night to 15% of the total, or 378 million (according to the population reference bureau). Assuming an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that computes to 108 million homes, presuming there is at least one good child in each. Santa has about 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 967.7 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with a good child, Santa has around 1/1000th of a second to park the sleigh, hop out, jump down the chimney, fill the stocking, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left for him, get back up the chimney, jump into the sleigh, and get onto the next house. Assuming that each of these 108 million stops is evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false, but will accept for the purposes of our calculations), we are now talking about 0.78 miles per household. This amounts to a total trip of 75.5 million miles, not counting bathroom stops or breaks. This means Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second which is 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man made vehicle, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a pokey 27.4 miles per second, and a conventional reindeer can run (at best) 15 miles per hour. The payload of the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium sized LEGO set (two pounds), the sleigh is carrying over 500 thousand tons, not counting Santa himself. On land, a conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that the "flying" reindeer can pull 10 times the normal amount, the job can't be done with eight or even nine of them, Santa would need 360,000 of them. This increases the payload, not counting the weight of the sleigh, another 54,000 tons, or roughly seven times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth (the ship, not the monarch). 600,000 tons travelling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this would heat up the reindeer in the same fashion as a spacecraft re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer would absorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy per second each. In short, they would burst into flames almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them and creating deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team would be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second, or right about the time Santa reached the fifth house on his trip. Not that it matters, however, since Santa, as a result of accelerating from a dead stop to 650 m.p.s. in .001 seconds, would be subjected to acceleration forces of 17,000 g's. A 250 pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of the sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force, instantly crushing his bones and organs and reducing him to a dribbling mess of twitching innards. Therefore, if Santa did exist, he's dead now. Merry Christmas everybody
  15. Don't forget that the fixture brightness parameters are set using the control wheel and that this sets virtual faders which are HTP mixed with other sources (Playback X and Submasters). See Frog Series Manual pages 4-5, 7-9 and 7-11.
  16. What you need to do is assign the 12 fixtures to a 'generic' fixture type. A generic fixture type consists of a single Brightness parameter. The Generic fixture types can be found under <CONVENTIONALS> in the fixture library. It doesn't matter which you use, as they all have the same personality. If you don't have a disk with the fixture library on, you can download the latest fixture library from this website or the downloads section of the Zero 88 website.
  17. Haytech, I would be interested in your show files if you could send me some I did have several disks with Fat Frog, Bull Frog and Mambo Frog shows based on our demo room rig, but people borrowed them and I haven't seen them since

Well done Franck, just the Frog Box and Frog Screen manuals to go then 8O
  19. Hi folks, Are you bored with eating all that turkey, drinking all that beer and watching the same old films on the TV, then why not spend a few minutes testing your general knowledge with one of K-Nine's Kwizzes: CLICK HERE Merry Christmas to all Frog Forum members
  20. If you ask me nicely, it will be done
  21. I think you are right. This appears to work in the same way as the Illusion forum, ie only registered members of the forum can apply to be a beta tester, once they are accepted, they are added into the Beta Testers usergroup which gives them visibility and access to the Beta test forum.

    Frog manuals

The English versions of the Frog Series, Mambo Frog and Frog Box manuals are the latest issues. The manuals in other languages may be earlier issues.
  24. Yes it would We tried this approach with the new moving light software on the Illusion 500 and got some useful comments and feedback prior to releasing the software. When we have assessed the scale of work required to implement and test the next frog updates package, we may make Beta versions available to registered testers .. but that will be up to NZ to decide  I think there is already a Beta Testers group set up on this forum; I will check as it was probably set up before I took over Site Admin.
