  1. With the current software you either program all the fixtures onto the submaster (full mode) or just the fixtures you have tagged (partial) When playing back in full mode all fixtures will be output, in partial mode only the programmed (tagged) fixtures will be output. These are the only two alternatives, so I guess the answer to your question is no. However, using palettes, you could program all the fixtures into a colour, beamshape or position palette, but only output selected ones. For example - say you had 10 fixtures - set them all to 'red' and program that into colour palette 1. Home all the fixtures - so they all go to open white. Select fixtures 1 - 3 and output colour palette 1 - Just fixtures 1-3 will go red.
  2. Sounds like the sub with the beamshape data also has colour programmed, so it is going to different values when you output the sub. Check the C|B|P columns on the Submasters Screen on the monitor to see if they contain data. To record only beamshape ensure that you are holding down the Beamshape key when you press program.
  3. I've not come across a desk that crashes at startup - does it do this regularly, or just occasionally ? Could you try upgrading the desk with the latest software, and let me know if there is any change.
  4. Have you tried posting your enquiry in the The Blue Room ? There are a lot of people there who are experienced in all things lighting
  5. The ability to enter a memory number from an external keyboard to jump quickly to a specific memory was implemented in software version 7.5 (October 2002)
  6. How old is your desk and which version of software are you running ?
  7. When programming submasters with fixture data in partial mode there are a few important things to remember: Fixture brightness (intensity) is ALWAYS recorded regardless of the selection or tagged state of the fixtures. If you don't want the brightness to appear on the submaster, ensure it is set to zero when you press Program. When programming colour, beamshape and position fixture data onto submasters, ensure that the required fixtures are TAGGED (yellow LEDs flashing) before pressing Program. LTP parameters (colour, beamshape, position), are output on a submaster when the submaster fader is raised above the LTP trigger level. This level can be set individually for each submaster as required. Right, now for your specific case: Press the Submaster button to select the submaster screen and set the page to page 1. Select submaster 1-1 on the submasters screen. Select the required fixtures and set their brightness/intensity to full using the wheel; ensure the fixtures are NOT tagged. Press Program. Select submaster 1-2 on the submasters screen. Select the required fixtures and set to the required colour using the wheel (you will have to output the brightness to see the lights). If you only want to record the colour and NOT the intensity, lower the intensity to zero, then hold down the Colour button and press Program. Select submaster 1-3 on the submasters screen. Select the required fixtures and set to the required gobo using the wheel (you will have to output the brightness to see the lights). If you only want to record the beamshape and NOT the intensity, lower the intensity to zero, then hold down the Beamshape button and press Program.
  8. See the announcement at the top of this forum, and download the user manual for a full description of it's functionality. If you buy the SMPTE/MIDI/CAN upgrade kit for your Leap Frog desk, the Frog Screen can be connected to your desk. One of the main functions of the Frog Screen is the 130 frog screen buttons which can be assigned to be Go buttons, or to go to a particular memory, (ie a bit like having 130 remote switches).
  9. There is also the issue of compatibility with the STMain board in the desks. As leap frogs, mambo frogs and bull frogs were added to the series later, they all have the same compatible STMain board. Some frogs/fat frogs may have earlier versions of this board, which would not be compatible with the upgrade kit.
  10. Moderation: Above post appended to this topic, and moved to the How Do I ... ? forum,
  11. I have checked the file from the Zero 88 website and successfully upgraded a desk here with it. There is a known problem with certain types of floppy disk drive, which were installed in some of the desks. Can you try upgrading 4/5 times, switching the desk off/on each time and see if that works.
  12. Was the operating software file (.OSF) copied onto a new or freshly formatted floppy disk ?
  13. Not everyone wants to go to Wales .. To find out more ... CLICK HERE
  14. Occasionally, when switching the desk on with an upgrade disk in the drive, the floppy drive fails to recognise that there is a disk there, and continues to start up as normal. Remove the floppy disk. Switch the desk off. Insert floppy disk. Switch desk on.
  15. For a step by step guide to installing new operating software on the Frog desks CLICK HERE
  16. Installing New Operating Software Here is a step by step guide to installing new operating software on frog desks: REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR SHOW TO FLOPPY DISK BEFORE INSTALLING NEW OPERATING SOFTWARE ON THE DESK !! NOTHING is retained on the desk as part of the upgrade process, therefore it is possible to install any version on a desk, regardless of what versions may have been previously installed on the desk. Download the zip file from the Zero 88 website onto your PC. Unzip the file. If you experience problems using the built-in zip file functions of Windows XP, then try Winzip. Copy the contents of the zip file onto a new or freshly formatted floppy disk. Hint: If you have problems with the desk not recognising the upgrade disk after a few attempts, try formatting the floppy disk in the desk instead, and then copying the contents of the zip file onto it from your PC. Switch your desk off. Insert floppy disk into desk. Switch your desk on. If a monitor is connected the screen shows: Checking for an upgrade disk Reading OS file, please wait (xx%) Wait until the desk has read the disk and the following instructions appear on the main LCD:. Frog OS Upgrade Version 10.12. [Continue] {Cancel} Confirm that you wish to continue by pressing ENTER. The main LCD then shows: Any shows stored on the desk will be overwritten [install] {Cancel} Confirm that you wish to install by pressing ENTER. The main LCD will then show the various operations it is carrying out during the installation process. Wait until the following message appears on the main LCD: Installation Done, Please remove disk, and switch desk off and back on. Remove the floppy disk from the drive. Switch the desk off and back on. You may now re-load your original show from floppy disk if required. Make sure you read the release notes to familiarise yourself with the changes from the previous software version which you were using. If you use the offline editor Phantom Frog on your PC, then install the updated version of that too, to keep it in step with the version on the desk.
  17. In version 9.0 software we deliberately changed the way that chases ran on submasters to give the user more control on starting and stopping them, as well as introducing n-shot chases which several people had asked for
  18. If you want to be able to run lots of different chases at the same time then as Ice correctly says the submasters are the way to do it. I'm not sure exactly why the playback X only handles 1/2 chases at a time ... that 's one for our software guru to explain When programming submasters (directly or with transferred memories), it is probably best to program them as partial data (eg just colour, beamshape or position). That way you can simply change the colour or position of a number of fixtures without completely changing the overall look on the outputs. On the Mambo Frog the SX buttons can be used in a similar way if required.
  19. Any sign of those pictures :?:
  20. The UCTL website is actually designed and administered by a chap called Chris Harris (the guy who makes the kitchens). I just happen to contribute a fair amount of material (quizzes, poems, pictures etc.) that goes on the site. In fact, I swamped him with so much material he gave me my own page If you've had a go at the quizzes, why not check out some of the other pages on the site
  21. Programming, naming, referencing, outputting and clearing palettes are all described in pages 7-6 and 7-7 of the Frog Series Operating Manual There isn't an edit palette function as such. This is due mainly to the fact that palettes were added in one of the feature updates, and there isn't a palette button or palette screen, in the same way that there are memories, submasters and SX buttons and screens. Therefore, programming palettes etc. had to be implemented in a slightly different way. However, if you output a programmed palette, add in the new fixtures, or remove any you don't want - check that all the required fixtures are tagged and then program the palette, this will be the equivalent of editing it
  22. The .isf extension is a custom one developed for our show files.
  23. If you have done everything that Paul suggested then I can't see why the chase should not run on the submaster. Which version of software have you got in your desk ? If you could send us a copy of your show with details of the chase memory concerned, maybe we can figure out why it isn't running 8O
  24. Hi folks, If you have a few minutes to spare, why not visit the UCTL website and have a go at one of K-Nine's Kwizzes CLICK HERE
